lfg-Teresa_Giudice

*** UPDATE 4:47 pm EST : Teresa is sentenced to 15 months!! She will serve her time first and then Joe will serve his 41 months as stated earlier.

*** UPDATE 4:19pm EST Court is taking a 5 minute recess.  Sentencing will come shortly. Teresa cried to the judge just before break.

*** UPDATE 3:54pm EST: Prosecutor wants judge to deny house arrest request.

*** UPDATE 3:50pm EST: Judge has denied requested to downgrade Teresa’s sentence per Federal Guidelines.  Sentence should be any minute!

*** UPDATE 3:07pm EST: Joe’s lawyer is trying to put all the blame on Joe to save Teresa from prison.  That is the reason for the delay on her sentencing.

*** UPDATE 2:43pm EST: If Joe maintains Good Faith in prison he can serve just 85% of his 41 month prison term.  Once he completes his sentence he will be handed over to the INS to determine his deportation fate.

*** UPDATE 2:03pm EST: Court is back in session.  Judge has agreed to stagger prison time so that Teresa will serve her time first and then Joe will complete his.  Joe has been sentenced to 41 months jail, $414,588 in restitution fees, has to attend alcohol treatment program while behind bars, and has 2 year probation following prison sentence.  Still awaiting Teresa’s sentencing.

*** UPDATE 1:35pm EST: Letter that Joe read in court just before his sentencing ruling:

“I stand here humiliated before the court and my family and society,” he said. “I disgraced many people, including my wife and four daughters. I take full responsibility for my actions. I promise to be a better person.”

*** UPDATE 1:26pm EST:  Joe Giudice gets 41 months prison!!!  Teresa still awaiting her fate.  More details shortly!

*** UPDATE 12:50pm EST:  Online newspaper nj.com is reporting that the judge is also questioning inconsistencies why the couple only declared $25,000 worth of items in their home, even though their insurance policy is worth $1 million.

In 2009 bankruptcy filings, the couple showed $60,000 in assets in their home, the judge said.

“They had an obligation to be transparent and candid and open with the court and I don’t think I got that,” Judge, Esther Salas said. “I want to understand the disconnect.”

The prosecutor also expressed his concerns.

“It’s the same pattern of obstruction and dishonesty and manipulation that they showed in the bankruptcy case,” the prosecutor told Salas.

*** UPDATE 12:25pm EST :  According to Daily Mail, the judge is furious at Teresa and Joe and yelled at them for omitting on financial forms they had purchased new cars, furniture and construction equipment.  The judge then said these actions do not make the couple seem ‘worthy of leniency,’ and brought up the possibility of charging them with perjury.  More details to come on sentencing, but this is not looking good!!

_______________________________

Teresa and Joe Giudice are facing a prison sentenced and Joe may be deported back to Italy.  Teresa is begging for community service or house detention instead of prison because she has four daughters to take care of.  Joe will most certainly serve prison time.  Will update once the sentencing is determined later this morning.

Big Brother – Final 5 & Rewind button

BB16

This has been a great season of Big Brother.  We have had villains, showmances, under the radar heroes, and fan favorites.  What a rollercoaster it has been!  Big Brother Season 16 now just has five remaining players left:  Derrick, Caleb, Frankie, Cody, and the last standing female Victoria.

Here are my thoughts on the remaining five:

DerrickDerrick – by far my favorite left in the game.  I liked him from day one and aside from Nicole, I have been rooting for him all along.  He has played one cool game.  Every move he makes is carefully and thoughtfully planned out.  Every conversation he has he chooses his words ever so carefully.  He has made not a single enemy and has been nearly everyone’s older brother at some point in the game.  In my opinion, he deserves to win and if he makes it to the final 2, he will win over anyone else sitting next to him.

CalebCaleb – Oh boy… “Beast Mode Cowboy”…this kid is naive, hot headed, stubborn, arrogant, but still occasionally can make me laugh.  He’s been good for entertainment sake and ever since Amber left I’ve been able to tolerate him a little bit more.

FrankieFrankie – Started out as one of the house guests that I liked the most and is now truly the house guest I can’t stand the most.  There’s a reason he was originally chosen to be on “America’s Team” but if we were to vote again I can assure you that he would not be chosen.  About a week before he revealed he was Ariana Grande’s brother, my feels for him really started to go sour.  Then the way he outed himself as a “social media mogul” was just pompous and almost laughable if it weren’t so annoying.  I don’t care for the way he treated Donnie or how he said he was tired of pulling his dead weight around.  He went from constantly having his Diary Room interviews aired in every episode to now he’s getting very little camera time and there’s a reason for that.  He went from being entertaining, funny, and sweet to being an arrogant, egotistical, grumpy jerk. Great YouTube video on Frankie’s appalling moments:

CodyCody – I see Cody as the floater in the alliance.  He hasn’t made any big moves, he hasn’t won many competitions, he hasn’t really strategized.  He’s just been going along with the consensus of Derrick and Caleb.  I am proud of him for voting out Christine though last week.  Tough move, but not really a big game-changing move.

VictoriaVictoria – By far the biggest floater of the game and she seems completely oblivious that she’s just being used as a weak person to keep around week after week so they have someone that’s easy to beat out of competitions.  That being said, her positive attitude, as naive as it is, has been nice the last several weeks and we don’t just see her crying about being on the block all the time.  I find myself not rooting for her, but still happy she’s sticking around because at this point it would be boring to see her get booted out.

BB16RewindbuttonNow, last night the “Rewind Button” was put into play.  This was a button that appeared out of nowhere that the house guests don’t really know what will happen after it is pressed.  They unanimously decide to press it.  With Frankie being HOH this week, I am extremely happy they pressed it.  The entire week’s competitions will all be replayed and could have very different results.  I would have been disappointed if they hadn’t pushed it.  I would really like to see Frankie go home this week and hope this button is a way to accomplish that.

Who is your favorite to win Big Brother season 16?  Who would you like to see go home next?

Bachelor in Paradise: Contestants

You either love ’em or you hate ’em, but there’s a reason they’re back and looking for love… The contestants of Bachelor in Paradise make good TV!  This season looks fantastic and to quote Chris Harrison, “More dramatic than ever!”  So here is the cast that will be on this season of Bachelor in Paradise (which is a reboot of Bachelor Pad) set to premiere August 4 and 8pm EST.

There will be three additional contestants from the current season of the Bachelorette with Andi.  It appears that this season of Bachelor in Paradise is more of a dating show and not necessarily competing for money like in Bachelor Pad, although I can’t tell for sure if that is the case or not.  I’m sure it will be good regardless!  Begins Monday, August 4 at 8pm EST.

Big Brother 16: Meet the Cast

Thanks to Twitter, I was reminded by @JeffSchroeder23 that tonight is the premiere of Big Brother 16!!  I just watched the sneak peek video of all of the house guests as well as the producers giving hints about this season.  The biggest change it sounds like is that even the Head of Household (HOH) is not safe from elimination.  I have no clue how this will work since the HOH typically controls the nominations, but it will be interesting to find out.   I say this at the beginning of every season, but judging on this video alone, these houseguests don’t seem all that likable and I hope I’m not too easily annoyed with them.  Ariana Grande’s brother, Frankie Grande, is one of the houseguests.   He seems a bit over the top for me and his personality could grade on me quickly, but we shall see.  Here’s a look at who this year’s house guests are:

Amber Borzotra

‘Suvivor’ Castmate Caleb Bankston, Dead

?????????????????????????Caleb Bankston, age 26, died Tuesday in a train accident, as reported by TMZ.  Caleb was a contestant on Survivor: Blood vs Water when he appeared with his fiancee Colton.  Unlike Colton, Caleb was very likable and went far in the game.  Caleb worked for the Alabama Warrior Roadway and was working on one of the trains when it derailed.  Caleb was the only one killed in the derailment.  Officials say a safety stand-down has been ordered at the railway before workers return.

Update***  It has been reported that Caleb Bankston was crush to death while work in a space in between two train cars.  The rear car slammed into the forward car crushing Caleb in the process.  The Federal Railroad Administration is further investigating.

The Bachelorette: Andi Dorfman Season 10, Ep 2: Date with Eric Hill

Eric HillBased on my Twitter feed, I know I’m not the only one who had a hard time watching Andi’s one on one date with Eric Hill tonight.  I am also sure that the producers have had any flaws of Eric edited out, but he certainly seems like a front runner in what I’ve seen of the season so far.  We all know he doesn’t make it all the way to the end based on reports that surfaced surrounding Eric’s paragliding accident and death, but at this point he certainly seems the best out of Andi’s choices.  Eric’s recount of what his experience was in Syria was haunting.  Him being through such a scary experience and thinking he was going to die and texting his parents goodbye…. wow.  This is all just so sad!!  What do you think?  Should they have cut Eric out completely of the season or continue to air these painfully awkward and cringe-worthy episodes that just break our hearts?

Television Without Pity to be taken down

television-without-pity

NBC Universal has announced plans to take down the website Television Without Pity (TWOP), the popular snarky TV recapping site, effective Friday, April 4th.  TWOP was bought out by NBC Universal back in 2008.  NBCU no longer sees TWOP or its similar site DailyCandy as  “viable businesses for our company.”  The shutdowns will affect 64 employees at DailyCandy and 3 at TWOP.  For the full story, check out the article featured in Variety.

Rest assured, Amanda Talks TV, though a much MUCH smaller scale than Television Without Pity, plans on sticking around.  In fact, this may be the added motivation I needed to get back to recapping (and therefore watching) more shows.  I’ve been a bit of a slacker lately on the recap front, so it’s time to get with it.  Thank you to my faithful viewers and to those who just stop by for visit now and then.  I have fun doing the site and hope you have fun reading it.

What is a show you would like recaps/commentaries on?

Bachelor Pad-like Bachelor Spinoff: Bachelor in Paradise

ABC announced on Friday, March 21, that this summer will premiere a Bachelor spinoff titled “Bachelor in Paradise” that will be very Bachelor Pad-esque except set in a tropical location.  Apparently the location is what’s going to make the ratings better than Bachelor Pad?  Not sure I understand the logic there, but the network does promise new twists and “the most unlikely relationships in Bachelor history.”  The show will premiere this summer after The Bachelorette season is through and will run for six episodes.

Who would you like to see back as the cast of Bachelor in Paradise?  I personally would love Arie, Jaclyn Swartz, Michael Stagliano, Courtney from Ben’s season would be a good villain (plus Arie’s ex which could lead to more drama), and Kelly from Juan Pablo’s season.

Loving to hate Juan Pablo: More quotes to hate

129463-thumbBy now we should all be getting over the hot mess that is Juan Pablo and his relationship with Nikki, but I find myself more and more fascinated with it as more information comes out.  Now, this could be his last interview we will see from Juan Pabs since he has since refused to do any media, so let’s enjoy it while it lasts.

Cosmopolitan ran an article: 6 Saddest Quotes From Juan Pablo and Nikki’s First Post-Bachelor Interview which summarizes their interview with People magazine.

Here are a couple of the doozies:

Nikki pretends that the conflicting Life & Style article about their entire relationship being a charade and Juan Pablo having sex with other women, does not exist. Juan Pablo proudly broadcasts his tendency to abandon women as if that is a sexy attribute and not something that makes us want to kick him in the gonads.

NIKKI: We’ve had disagreements, but there hasn’t been a moment for me where I’m like, “This is not happening. I’m going to walk away.”
JUAN PABLO: For me that’s happened like five times! [Laughing]

[When Nikki is asked if it was embarrassing to tell Juan Pablo that she loved him and have him reply “I like you. A lot.”]
NIKKI: It is tough for me because I’ve never told somebody I’ve loved them first. It’s kind of girl code.
JUAN PABLO: And now I’m in control.

JUAN PABLO: I want to get married and have two more kids and never get divorced. I want to make sure I pick the right person. I hope [it’s Nikki]. If you behave. [Laughs]

Check out the full article for more quotes we love to hate.   Meanwhile America is screaming at Nikki to get some self respect and dump him.  She said this on Twitter after the Live After The Final Rose interview:

As much as Juan Pablo doesn’t get that he’s a douchebag, Nikki doesn’t get that the majority of the criticism she’s receiving is because people are honestly just rooting for her and thinks she (and really anyone) deserves better than Juan Pablo.  We would all love to see Juan Pablo alone and miserable.

Juan Pablo goes radio silent and America rejoices

after the final rose

Juan Pablo has refused to do the media tour which usually takes place after the finale of The Bachelor, according to TMZ.com.  He refused to appear on Good Morning America Tuesday morning and won’t do any further interviews.  Apparently the Warner Bros execs are completely okay with this as Juan Pablo is damaging The Bachelor franchise’s reputation.

In case you missed his final interview with Chris Harrison during the Live broadcast of The Bachelor: After the Final Rose, Juan Pablo seemed agitated from the start.  During some of his ramblings, host Christ Harrison tried to steer the interview back on track and Juan Pablo snapped back in return saying “can I talk?  Whew!” becoming more and more irritated that Chris was interrupting him.

Producers of the show are saying good riddance after finding Juan Pablo difficult to work with the entire season.  What makes me happy is that past Bachelor and Bachelorettes were on last night’s show which made Juan Pablo look even more like an ass.  When you have sweethearts like Sean, Catherine, Des, and Chris on there who have fallen in love, are grateful for the show, and have kept their dignity and reputations in tact throughout the show, you realize just how big of a douchebag Juan Pablo really is.

I, for one, am happy we don’t have to see anymore rude interviews with Juan Pablo and hopefully we can all just move on.  Even Brad didn’t come across as badly as Juan Pablo when he said no to both of the final women.
