Bachelorette: Emily Season 8, Episode 4 Recap

One on one, group date, and two-on-one date in which 1 guy stays and the other guy goes.  Then Chris announces that the men will be leaving the mansion forever and they are headed first to Bermuda.  Ricky has traveled to Bermuda with Emily.  Still not sure how I feel about Ricky being so involved in the show.  Even though she hasn’t met the guys yet, she has spent an awful lot of time on camera.

The guys arrive in Bermuda and are all riding down the street on scooters.  The place they’re staying at looks amazing. First date card arrives: Doug “Let our senses lead the way” it says.  Alejandro is bummed it’s not him because he hasn’t had a one on one date yet.  Doug is nervous he won’t be coming back from the date.  He’s really starting to doubt himself.  The guys start razzing him and pushing his buttons, so the guys are relentlessly teasing him now.  It’s hysterical to everyone except for Doug.  Arie especially takes joy in poking fun at him.  It really gets Doug fired up before his date.  The guys immediately turn serious when Emily walks in.  Doug is compared to the Hulk because of the way he was about to flip out.

Doug and Emily go shopping on their date to little gift shops and walking around the town.  Emily says Doug is the perfect guy for this date, they have such a connection, they have so much in common, etc.  He tells her about a charity he started to show his son that one person really can change the world.  She says he never seems grumpy, and he confessed that he was just grumpy with the guys right before she walked in.  She thought it was great that he felt comfortable enough to tell her about it.  I don’t know…. I am just not liking Doug very much.  I’m finding him very dull and boring.

Date card #2: “Let’s set sail on the sea of Love”  Charlie, Ryan, Chris, Jef, Sean, Arie, Travis, and Kalen.

Doug and Emily are now on the dinner part of their date.  Emily really wants Doug to open up more.  Doug keeps giving her the perfect answer to everything.  He puts her on the spot trying to come up with flaws and she finds it equally hard to come up with stuff.  So she said maybe he really is just that perfect. She gives him the rose and he tells in his interview that he’s very slow to make a move.  He wanted to kiss her, but he doesn’t.  He says he never ever makes the first move.  That’s going to kill it with her right there.  Emily wants somebody that’s going to be a man.  She’s a southern belle, there’s no way she’s making the move on him first.  I think he just really messed things up and I am perfectly okay with that.

Group date!  The boys are going sailing.  They’re all inexperienced at sailing.  They’re going to have a race and the losers have to go back to the hotel and the winners get to spend more time with Emily.

Meanwhile back at the hotel the final date card arrives.  Which two are going on the two-on-one date?  John and Nate “let’s explore this Bermuda Triangle”  John “Wolf” is the darker skinned (tan?  Italian?) fellow and Nate is the quieter blonde.  Leaving Alejandro and some long-haired guy… where did this dude come from… without a date this week.  John and Nate are stressing because one of them will be going home.

And the boys are off racing!  Charlie is on the red team and Jef is on the yellow team with both of them as having the most important role on the sailboat.   The guys are really working hard.   The red team had a great lead but then yellow (Jef’s team) passed them.  It’s really neck and neck, but the yellow team wins!  Jef, Arie, Kalen, and jerkface Ryan.  Going back to the hotel is hot Chris, hot Sean, nice Charlie, and party boy Travis.  They are really bummed.  But I’m interested in seeing how Emily and Kalen get along.  He needs to go, in my book.  Ride back to the hotel and Charlie is crying.  Hmm.

So Ryan toasts to Emily as his “trophy maybe wife”.  Ugh.  He’s so annoying.  Arie and Emily cuddle under a blanket and he tells her he missed her and they kiss a bit.  He’s very confident and she seems very happy.  The Jef and Emily go by the fire and he’s more open with her and tells her that he likes who she is.  She really wanted him to kiss her, but he didn’t.  These men are surprisingly moving very slowly with her!  Maybe these guys are more respectful of women?  Hard telling.  Now Emily and Ryan are talking.  Emily is grilling him about the gym and weight comments and he says “God made you a beautiful woman so be a beautiful woman.”  Grrr.  He’s such a jerk.  She tells in her interview that she feels like Ryan is judging her.  So she gives the rose to Jef – completely shocking him.  He says he feels like he’s falling for her.  I’m rooting for Jef!

Two on one date! They’re out on a yacht.  The vibe at the house thinks that John is getting the rose.  They think Nate being 25 is going to hurt him and they think John has more swagger.  Chris and Doug get in an argument over whether age matters or not.  Doug thinks because he’s 33 he’s more wise than Chris who is 25.  So the three of them go jumping off a cliff into the water.  Crazy!!  Both of them just don’t seem to have much personality yet.  They go into a cave for dinner.  Such an awkward dinner!  Nate starts talking about the food.  Then the boys don’t want to eat.  It’s got to be the most awkward date in Bachelor history.  So she pulls Nate aside to have some one-on-one date.  Emily asks him what he wants her to know about him.  So he starts talking about his family and he gets choked up.  She says “awww that’s so sweet.”  But that seems to be the kiss of death with her (i.e. dude that went home last week for missing his son).  Now John’s turn.  He explains that he’s not the type to want to be the center of attention.  He is who he is.  That was a quick one-on-one time.  She’s about to make her decision.  She decides to give the rose to John.  She does feel terrible… but did I call it??  KISS OF DEATH.  She thinks he’s a bit young and hasn’t had enough life experiences yet.

Cocktail party!  Ryan is confident… duh!  When is he not?  I love how Sean just beams from ear to ear when Emily walks in.  Ryan gets some alone time with Emily so Arie wants to interupt them as quickly as possible.  Ryan tells Emily that just because she is in the center does not mean it makes her worthy.  So he asks her “why are you worthy?”  Wow… he has got balls.  And she actually answered him.  What is wrong with her??  Thank goodness Arie finally interupts!  Ryan keeps talking about using his position of being on the show.  He’s an opportunist.  He’s just in this to be famous, not for Emily, not for love.

Emily tells Sean that he looked super hot on the sailboat and he turned so beat red.  I LOVE how smitten Sean is with her.  He gave her a kiss and it was so sweet.  Chris confronts Doug about the age thing again.  Chris wants to know why he thinks he’s better for Emily just based on his age.  Of course this escalates into an argument.  Doug stays completely calm, and Chris is getting pretty upset.  Chris feels that Doug is over the top humble and doesn’t believe have the stuff he says.  Which is kind of what Emily was getting at.

Cocktail party is over and they still didn’t show her talking to the long-haired guy.  He must be going home.  Who is he???  lol I’m too lazy to look on the Bachelorette website to find out.  I think Travis will be the other one to go.  He doesn’t have enough class for her.

Sean gets the first rose.  Yay!  Arie – no surprise there.  Travis – well I was wrong about that one!!  Chris.  Ryan – WHAT?!!!  and not even the last rose.  ugh!!!!!  Kalen – okay, fine, I can deal with him for another week.  One rose left….. Charlie, Alejandro, or long-haired dude…  and it goes to Alejandro.  Charlie and long-haired dude go home.  Wow, crying really IS the kiss of death!!!  Now Charlie’s going.  MICHAEL!!  Michael is the long-haired guy’s name!  He’s crying!  Dude, if you even knew how little you were even on camera.  lol.  Poor Charlie… he’s crying again too.

Next week looks great!!

Bachelorette: Emily, Season 8, Ep 3

Third episode in already and 16 bachelors left vying for Emily’s love.  If this episode lives up to the teasers, it is going to be a doozie filled with drama!

Chris Harrison arrives at the guys’ mansion: Explains 3 dates: 1 group date, 2 individual dates.  And drops off the first date card.  “Chris, Love is a City Climb”  Chris, aka Mr Bobblehead, is going on a one-on-one date.  Emily and Chris arrive on their date and Emily informs Chris that they are going to climb up a building in order to get to their restaurant at the top.  Chris has grown on me since the over-the-top bobblehead incident.  As they’re going up the building it starts to storm with thunder and lightening.  Emily starts freaking out a bit and Chris is being really supportive and encouraging.  She says Chris passed that test.  Chris opts to give her a high five instead of a kiss.  They move over to their table on the top of the roof of this building.  Emily reflects on how confident Chris was and how he didn’t show much fear.  She admits to Chris that if she saw him in a bar she would not have had the guts to approach him.  She feels he is too attractive for her.  Chris reveals that he’s 25 and that alarms Emily because she didn’t realize he was that young (she is 26).  She’s worried he might not be ready to take on the task of raising Ricky with her.

Back at the mansion Tony calls his son.  He explains that being away from him has been really hard.  Date card arrives… Charlie, Alejandra, Stevie, Ryan, Alessandro, Sean, John, Michael, Doug, Jef, Tony, and Travis: “Let’s Play.”  Tony feels confident he’s going to get the rose on the group date.

Back with Chris and Emily, he explains how he’s young, but he’s a man.  He feels he’s at the right point in his life to fall in love and start a life together.  She is just beaming.  He is coming across very attractive and mature.  After they talk, Emily gives him in the rose.  She walks him down the street where Luke Bryan is singing.  And in typical Bachelor fashion, they have a slow dance in front of the stage.  He wants to be a gentleman and asks her if she would mind if at the end of the song if he gives her a kiss.  She said “why don’t you try and you’ll find out?”  So he does, and of course she kisses back.  Very cute!!  I predict he will make it far in this show.  I can see a definite spark between them.  And it seems mutual on both parts.

Group date!  Emily’s holding a football as the guys arrive. After a little chit chat, Emily leaves and says she’ll be right back.  She goes on the other side of the park and meets up with her girlfriends.  She informs the girls they are going to be interviewing the guys to see which ones are ready for fatherhood and just give their opinions on the guys.  Emily walks the guys over to the girlfriends and explains they are each going to be interviewed.  The guys begin to panic immediately.  The girls really grilled the guys and made them uncomfortable and made quite a few of them dance or do push ups.  It was very cute to watch.  The girls made Sean take his shirt off and were just drooling over him. The interviewing over and Emily calls out a huge group of kids to come over and play with the guys.  The guys were all trying to prove how great they are with the kids.   Ryan backs away from the pack of kids to talk to Emily and the girls.  They tease him that after Emily gets married she’s just going to let herself go.  Ryan tells her he wouldn’t be okay with that.  He tries to back peddle a little and say that if she just let herself go because she got lazy, that would be bad.  He would still love her, just not “love up on her” as much.  Not winning brownie points with anyone, Ryan!!  I already had a feeling he wasn’t trustworthy.  Not a big fan of Ryan’s!  Her friends mostly picked Sean and Doug for her.

Sean

Dinner tonight at a restaurant called “Butter.”  Emily pulls Sean aside to have a heart to heart.  He talks about how much his parents are in love with each other and how much he wants that for himself as well.  Then she talks to Doug and he tells her about his upbringing.  He was raised by his father when he was little because his biological mom didn’t want anything to do with him or his sister and she skipped town.  One day his father passed away from complications from epilepsy.  After that he and his sister bounced from foster home to foster home.  Emily begins to cry as he tells his story.  She’s impressed with how happy he seems to be even though he went through such a rough childhood.

Back at the mansion, the date card comes from Arie.  “Love is a wild ride” the card says.  Kalon is jealous that he wasn’t picked for a one on one date.

Tony talks to Emily and tells her how much he misses his son.  She tries to comfort him and tells him it’s much harder on him than it is on his son.  She really feels for him missing his son though.  Tony and Doug are now outside talking and Tony is really emotional.  Doug tries talking him down from the ledge and telling him to stick around.  He calls his son to tell him he misses him and loves him.  On one hand I find it really sweet, but wow, it’s like too emotional this early on.  He’s only been away for a little bit.  Emily comes to talk to him.  She tells him that she wants him to be with his son, and she doesn’t see them going all the way to the end together so she doesn’t want to string him along and keep him longer away from his son.  She goes back and explains to the guys that she let him go home.  She grabs the rose and gives it to John, the blonde religious hottie.  I think he’s a great family man, but I do worry about a chauvinistic side to him.  He seems like he might be the type to think a woman’s place is in the home.  Which wouldn’t fly for me, but maybe it wouldn’t bother her.

Time for Arie’s one on one date with Emily.  Arie is one of my favorites.  They get in a limo, go  on a private plane, and head out to Dollywood.  Emily goes on her first ever rollercoaster.  I feel for her because I hate them as well and have never been on anything like the one they went on.  Arie and her went on the stage where Dolly performs to write a song, and suddenly Dolly Parton comes out and totally surprises Emily.  Dolly wrote a song specifically for the two of them.  Emily is just so excited and her whole face just lit up.  Dolly asks if she and Emily could talk for awhile for a little girl talk.  Dolly gives some advice and it’s just a sweet little scene.  I think Dolly is overshadowing Emily’s date a bit at this moment, but now they’re about to sit down to dinner together.  Arie talks about his ex girlfriend that had 2 kids that he helped with.  He said they all lived together.  They talked about how he’s a race car driver and she says she’s okay with that.  She tries faking him out like she wasn’t going to give him the rose and the look on his face was priceless.  He looked totally hurt and stunned, but then she started laughing and said she couldn’t pull it off and asked if he would accept the rose.  She said she feels like he must really like her because he looked so sad.  He said he does.  It was really sweet.  She’s really smitten with him and I can also see Arie going really far in this.  But like I said, he was one of my favorites from the beginning.

Cocktail party before the rose ceremony.  Emily looks stunning.  She first pulls Kalon aside.  Kalon told her he takes it personally when he doesn’t get a date.  He tells her that he always thought his first kid would be his own.  “I love it when you talk, but I wish you would let me finish.”  he says to her when she starts saying.  That was a big turnoff to her.  She found it condescending.  Duh!  That was terrible.  He’s very controlling.

So then she meets with Travis (the one with the ostrich egg) and he says he thinks it’s time to get rid of the egg.  If you love something you need to set it free…. he says.  So strange anyway!  The two of them stand together and Emily takes great pleasure in smashing “shelly”.   The men inside all toast to Shelly.  haha… that is so funny.  The egg was so ridiculous.

Now she has a seat on a bench swing with Alessandro.  She asks him how he would be as a father.  He says it would be a compromise to be a dad to Ricky.  She says don’t you think it’s an honor to be Ricky’s father and he disagrees and says no, it’s a compromise.  Marriage is about compromise and that would be one for me.  As he further explains himself more and more you can see she is getting more and more angry, however she is still keeping her composure really well.  Sean tells the guys that Alessandro admitted to her friends that he’s cheated on an ex and had a one night stand.  Emily walks Alessandro through the room where the guys are and escorts him out the door.  Alessandro says he’s completely shocked.  What a fool.  Now Emily is very mad.  She confides in Arie while she has a cocktail.  Then she has a sweet conversation with Sean.  He said normally he wouldn’t wait two days to see someone again that he had that good of a time with.  He tells her about how he’s prepared to step in as a father to Ricky.

I’m really surprised that now that these guys are showing their personalities, a lot of them are starting to look a lot better.  I wasn’t too impressed with these guys after the first episode, but some of them are definitely growing on me.

Rose ceremony…. only one person will be going home since she’s already sent home Tony and Alessandro.  Roses go to…. Jef, Charlie, Doug, Michael, Travis, Alejandro, Ryan (ugh!), John, Kalon, one rose left… Nate.  Stevie is going home.  I was surprised when Stevie wasn’t cut the first night.  He just isn’t classy enough for Emily.  I’m okay with him going… seems like a nice guy, but a little too squirrely. Ryan’s upset that Emily and Arie kissed in the house.  Ryan’s competitive side is coming out even more and he really treats this like a game.

American Idol Season 11 Finale! Winner’s Announced!

The moment we have been waiting for since January – Who will be the NEXT…. American Idol!

Show starts out the way all finales start out… the eliminated contestants, dressed, in all white, sing a group song together (Runaway Baby, I think is the name).  They do have some killer backup dancers dressed in all black though.  Which is a nice segue into So You Think You Can Dance starting tomorrow. I’m sure that was no coincidence.

132 million votes came in for the finale last night!  That’s pretty big, but this is also the first year that voting online was made possible.  Or was it last year?  Either way, you haven’t been able to vote online for many seasons.

Phillip is singing first with CCR’s John Fogerty with the song “Have you ever seen the rain?”  Sounds great!  John looks great except for some very apparent plastic surgery that makes his eyes very squinty.  But he still looks amazing and they sound great together!  Then they sang “Bad Moon Rising.”  Good job Phillip!

Typical bloopers of bad auditions… blah… fast forward…

Wow… Joshua Ledet performing with Fantasia.  “Take me to the pilot (?)”  Fantasia is wearing a sequined cat suit with a slit all the way up the sidef the leg and very long hair extensions.  I do not normally trash how women look because, let’s face it, it’s hard being a woman, but she…. she does not look good.  I think she should have chosen a different outfit.  Oh weird… they just cut to commercial and they weren’t done performing.  Going to rewind to see if I can see why…   Okay, it seems like the band wanted to end the song, but Joshua and Fantasia just carried on anyway and then the choir joined in… so maybe they just went over their time.  It seemed that Joshua and Fantasia were just seeing who could scream the most anyway.

Ladies of the top 12 sing a medley of Chaka Khan songs, and Chaka Khan herself comes out and nearly stumbles down the steps.  Cameras nervously pan to audience instead of focusing on Ms Khan.  She is wearing a flesh colored sequined cat suit as well, but she sounds great!  Jane Lynch was seen in the audience singing along to “I’m Every Woman.”

New Ford Escapes are given to the musical mentors of the final two contestants.  They go crazy, especially Jessica’s mentor.  It’s really sweet.  Phillip and Jessica receive a new Ford car of their choice.

Rhianna hits the stage in quite the theatrical performance singing “Where Have You Been?”   She looks hot as always.  And the whole production was quite impressive.

“Turn On the Radio” is sung by Skylar and out comes Reba McEntire.  Just wishing Ashley Clark from the Clark Brothers were out on stage with them like he was for so many of Skylar’s other performances on Idol.  Reba is so stinkin’ cute and I’m not even a country girl.  I really like both of them performing together.

Inside Steven’s house… blah… filler…

Jessica singing “I Will Always Love You”.  This was my favorite song she sang throughout the season.  However, seems a little eerie that we know Whitney Houston won’t be coming out to sing with her…. so who will it be??  Okay, so nobody came out.  lol. Even though I want Phillip to win, Jessica really is uber talented.

Guys of the top 12… singing a Neil Diamond medley?  Love Colton Dixon!  Wish he would have made it further.  Heejun is just making a big joke of the whole thing.  Colton’s even laughing at him at points.  Then Neil Diamond comes out for the “Sweet Caroline” song.  It was cute and cheesy.

Just wanting to get to the end!!!  Clip with the top 12 singing the phone book.  That was actually kind of cute.

Jennifer Lopez now performs with Lil’ John… I think it is and somebody else that I couldn’t tell.  She’s such a good dancer, I wish she was one of the judges on So You Think You Can Dance. Then another song with Pitbull and another guy that came down from the ceiling on these really cool platform thingees.

Ace Young just proposed to Diana DeGarmo!!!  Ace: “Will… You…. Marry Me.”  A little dramatic, but so sweet.  I love it!  I’ve always love Diana!  She can’t even talk!  Seems like an unlikely pair, but so cute!!

Hollie Cavanaugh sings “You Will Never Walk Alone” and Jordin Sparks joined her for it half way through.  Cute, sounds good, but I want to get to the results!!  Such a slow song.

Honoring Robin Gibb by a medley of BeeGee hits by the guys of the top 12.  Heejun finally seems to be taking it a little more seriously.  Ouch, the guys can’t harmonize though.  Eek… this is bad.  Colton still makes me swoon though!  Can’t we just have him sing?

Jessica Sanchez and Jennifer Holliday sing “And I’m Telling You”.  Damn, Jennifer Holliday is awesome!  Joshua Ledet and Fantasia could take lessons from her.  This is the best duet of the night.  Wow, I got chills.  WOW!!!  They both are INCREDIBLE!!!  This is the Jessica I love.  And Wow, Jennifer Holliday!!!  I can’t stop saying Wow!  It actually brought me to tears.   That was awesome.

Areosmith performs…. pretty cool!  That’s all I have to say.  I love watching Steven Tyler perform.  There’s nobody else like him.  I don’t care how old he is, he still rocks it.

Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips perform “Love Lift Us Up”  Cheesy, but sung well.  Want to hear the results already!!!!

RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!

DIM THE LIGHTS…….  THE WINNER OF AMERICAN IDOL IS…..  PHILLIP PHILLIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So happy!!!!  He finishes the show by singing “Home”.   He makes it half way through the song, almost emotionless, and then just breaks down crying and can’t sing.  It’s beautiful.  Absolutely beautiful.  Takes his guitar off and just walks to his family in the audience to hug them.  And of course I’m crying like the sap that I am!  Congrats Phillip!  I wanted you to win from the start!

American Idol Season 11 Finale – Performance Recap

Through me off that the finale started tonight!  Lucky for me my DVR taped but I wonder who may have missed it because it was on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.  However, I am happy it’s only an hour long.

Ryan Seacrest’s hair is even taller than usual. It’s almost like a cartoon character tonight.

Phillip and Jessica come down the steps on the stage at the Nokia theater in front of the largest live audience they have ever performed in front of and Jessica seems excited and Phillip looks completely terrified.

Jessica is up first and sings “If I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston.  She looks stunning and sounds amazing.  Her dress is beautiful.  This is one of my favorite Whitney Houston songs and she is definitely doing it justice.  Cute as a button and a great way to start out the show!

Phillip is singing “Stand by Me”.  Not sure why Simon Fuller would pick that song.  I feel like it’s so overdone.  But Phillip’s smiling and that makes it better already right there.  I LOVE Phillip, but I don’t love this performance.  😦  However as  I’ve read on various sites , Phillip is in desperate need of surgery on his kidneys.  He has been missing rehearsals and the Ford music video shoots in order to rest up because the pain has been so bad.  During his hometown visit last week, his doctor urged him to have immediate surgery, but Phillips refused until the finale is over.  Sources say he is expected to have immediate surgery following the finale.  I’ve noticed during several of his recent performances that he’s sitting down for them, and I would bet it’s because he’s in so much pain.  This first performance was just okay, but I can’t help but still root for the guy.

Jason Derulo premieres his “Undefeated” song in which American Idol fans helped write the lyrics for which is about him recovering from his neck injury he suffered while rehearsing for his tour.  Jordin Sparks was seen in the audience singing along.  Considering his neck was just in a brace not too long ago, he is dancing really well.  He’s got it back!  It’s a pretty cool song… a little cheesy… but it’s good.  Everybody likes a comeback kid story.  He took a cute bow at the end of the song.

Round two is the finalists singing their favorite songs of the season.  Jessica chose “The Prayer”. I’m kind of surprised she chose this one.  It’s pretty, but it doesn’t do anything for me.  It’s even a little boring, even though her voice sounds amazing.

Sidenote… So You Think You Can Dance premiers this Thursday!

Phillip chose to sing “Movin’ Out.”  I’m glad he chose this one.  I do think it’s one of his better ones.  Love that he’s smiling during his performance!  That makes all the difference in the showmanship and overall performance of it.  Love the way he ended it!  It’s great!

Next up is the single they would release if they win it all….

“Change Nothing” is the name of the song Jessica would release.  I feel the subject matter is a little too old and mature for her for her to release as her own song.  Plus the song’s verses really fit in her lower register and that’s not where she sings the best.  The fact that she was sitting on the piano throughout the whole song I don’t think was a good idea either.  It wasn’t compelling enough and I think it made her hard to sing.  Randy Jackson admits he doesn’t love the song.  It didn’t have enough R&B in it for him for what he thought she should sing.  Jennifer Lopez agrees the song wasn’t really the best for her voice.  It was just a typical pop ballad, and she needs something more soulful.  Steven Tyler agrees as well.  Poor Jessica just says “thank you” but looks like she’s fighting back tears.  She tells Ryan that she wanted to do something more urban as well, but picked that song because it’s the finale and she wanted to showcase her voice.  I think she didn’t choose wisely at all.

“Home” is the name of Phillip’s song.  It’s a very folky sounding song, almost like a Simon & Garfunkel song.  It’s a pretty neat song though with a drum corps on stage and heavy on background vocals, but it was a great moment on stage.  Judges gave a standing ovation!  Randy says everything about it was perfect!  Randy said it was like “Mumford & Sons” and I couldn’t agree more… but I love Mumford & Sons, so I’m okay with that.  It was great! He’s got my vote!!  Can’t wait for tomorrow night!  Who do you think will win?

Scotty McCreery ended the show with clips of the season playing in the background.  Still can’t watch him while he sings.  lol

Celebrity Apprentice: And the Winner is… 2012 finale

Last week the show ended with a cliffhanger of Arsenio’s tape of Magic Johnson being messed up (not recorded correctly) and Clay Aiken fighting with Debbie Gibson over a mural to be painted on the wall by her cousin.  Based on last week’s episode, I thought Arsenio would be the clear winner, but with Arsenio’s video not being correct for the PSA, I’m not so sure now.  So we will find out soon who will be the winner of Celebrity Apprentice!

So the clip of Magic Johnson continues and he’s actually facing the camera.  It might turn out okay that they can edit the tape enough to make it work for the PSA.  Pan to Clay’s team and Debbie’s on the phone with her cousin and really upset by the way Clay has been treating her.

Morning of the event and Clay’s team is heading over to the venue.  Debbie shows Clay pictures of work her cousin has done in the past and Clay is happy with what he sees.  On Arsenio’s team, Adam is writing lines for Paul Sr and Teresa because so far neither of them have anything to do in the variety show. Adam suggests doing a roast and kind of roasting Arsenio a bit.  Arsenio does not want a roast leaving Adam confused as to what exactly Arsenio wants.

Clay’s team arrives and he sees a sketch of the mural work and likes it and everyone’s setting up for the Carnival theme of the event.  Clay is micromanaging a little too much, I think.  He’s now upsetting Aubrey by not letting her run with her part of the task and trying to micromanage that.  Arenio’s room is look very sleek and upscale yet simple.

On stage at the live finale, Trump brings back the fired celebrities.  Lou announces that he has had surgery to improve his hearing and for the first time in his life he can hear without the use of a hearing aid.  Dayana is asked what she thinks about Lisa and she says that Lisa has no respect for herself and Dayana says she has nothing positive to say about her.  Ohhhh!  Good stuff! 🙂  Victoria Gotti says with the exception of a couple women, the women were horrible, she would have liked to play on the men’s team.  She said Aubrey is like a cartoon character and Lisa is tasteless and classless.   Patricia says it is still not sitting well with her that all the money she raised during her task went to the other team except 10% of it.  She had big plans on what she wanted to do with the money and she is really disappointed.  This is the most bitter I have ever seen the fired contestants on Celebrity Apprentice!  Wow!

The events are about to start and people are lining up in one line for Clay and another line for Arsenio.  Clay’s line is full of “claymates” and Arsenio’s line is short with hardly anyone in it.  However, my prediction, is that Arsenio will be able to raise more money per ticket than Clay.  Arsenio says “All my people are on CP time – Colored People Time.  They’re going to be a little late.”  haha… love it!  Suddenly the checks are coming in both for Arsenio and Clay.  Lisa donated $10,000 to Clay’s team even though she is on Arsenio’s team.  I don’t think that was a very smart move, but I guess she doesn’t have much to lose anyway.

Time to go inside the event… Clay’s carnival and kid themed is very cool and looks like a lot of fun.  Arsenio’s is very different, but very classy and they have magicians entertaining the guests while they wait for the show to begin.  In walks Trump to Clay’s event first.  He walks in to find Debbie Gibson hulu hooping and balancing spinning plates.  It was pretty impressive!  Trump gets to Arsenio’s and Whoopi Goldberg arrives moments later.  Arsenio says she is his date.

Now it’s time for Arsenio to pull the cord that will make the curtain drop and Clay’s event and Arsenio’s event will then become one big room.  Clay and Arsenio greet each other and hug.  Arsenio’s up first to do his part of the entertainment…

Flash to the live stage with the rest of the fired celebrities coming out.  I think Lisa had a face lift since the last taping.  She looks different.  They show Lisa clips of her being mean to everyone.  She finds it hysterical and says she’s a mental case.  Teresa says she’s not naive, she’s just trusting and sees the good in everyone.  Penn said he thinks Clay should win, even though their personalities don’t mesh that well.  He said he worked really hard.

Okay… the entertainment event begins.  The two of them explain their charities and show the PSA’s, Clay’s being first.  Clay’s turned out really nicely and I really liked it.  Arsenio’s video turned out surprisingly well!  Now Adam comes out for Arsenio’s entertainment variety show.  And then Lisa comes out and focuses on Clay being gay.  She says the “only thing aiken’ is Clay’s ass”.  Luckily Clay found it funny.  Arsenio gets out and makes a few jokes.  Overall, their comedy routine was just okay.  It wasn’t hilarious, but it wasn’t bad.

Now Clay’s variety show… Debbie Gibson and Dee Snider sing “Baby Love”… Aubrey sings “I will Survive” and Penn came out and danced with her.  It was really funny!  Penn and Teller did their “cups and balls” routine.  I like how this is flowing from act to act.  Clay ends it with “Time of My Life” duet with Aubrey.  I really liked Clay’s entertainment a lot better.  I thought it had more flow to it and just overall more entertaining.  If I were there in person it’s the show I would have enjoyed more.

Boardroom time!  Trump puts it out there that Lisa donated to Clay’s team and Arsenio’s team seems pretty shocked.  Everyone says they think it was good though.  Trump says Arsenio did a great job on his PSA and raising awareness for the Magic Johnson foundation.  Trump really liked the show that Clay put on.  Arsenio’s team raised $167,100 and Clay’s team raised $301,500!!  Wow!!!  I am so surprised he raised twice as much as Arsenio!  Clay should win hands down.

Back to the live finale on stage and Arsenio, who is now sporting hair, and Clay, who has his hair slicked back and I can’t decide if it looks better or worse.  Dee says without a doubt Clay Aiken should win.  Lisa says Clay should win but Arsenio should have his own show on late night.  Debbie says Clay should win.  Dayana says she would pick Arsenio.  Teresa picks Arsenio.

Clay performs “Lean on Me”.  I still can’t look at him when he sings.  If I close my eyes, I like it, but he just looks so goofy when he sings.  Arsenio now comes out and joins him.  He actually has a great voice!  It’s kind of cute to see this camaraderie between the two contestants.  Who knew this experience would make those contestants BFF’s?  Cute!

Clay and Arsenio both tell why they should be the Celebrity Apprentice.  Blah blah blah… we’ve heard it all before.  Just stretching this finale out as long as possible.  Here we go….  here is the announcement… the winner is…. WHAT?!  Arsenio Hall??  I did not see that coming.  Really?  I mean, REALLY!!!  Poor Clay being runner up AGAIN.  I don’t get it.  Wish I knew the reason.  That just doesn’t make sense to me.  Clay was clearly better.   Did the right person win?

American Idol Recap: Results Show, Final Two Announced!

I am so stoked that we are about to find out who is going to be in the finale!!  This is HUGE!!  I want Phillip Phillips for sure, but then I’m torn between Jessica and Joshua.

Phillip, Jessica, Joshua

The three are singing “Gotta Get You Into My Life” by the Beatles.  It’s good, probably one of the best group performances, but still full of cheese.  Okay, fast forwarding…. let’s get to the good stuff!

Joshua’s up to go over the recap of last night plus Jimmy’s reaction.  Jimmy didn’t love Joshua’s Etta James song.  He thought it was just okay and didn’t live up to Joshua’s potential.  Jimmy gave the same critique I did last night about Joshua’s performance of Imagine.  He over complicated the simple melody.  Jimmy said he should have given Joshua a song with more melody instead of Mary J Blige’s “No More Drama.”   But that was the one song I loved.  Jimmy says Joshua definitely deserves to be in the finale.

Lisa Marie Presley performs – anyone else find this a really random choice on Idol’s third biggest night?  She reminds me of Stevie Nicks.  Very elaborate stage.  This had to have been prerecorded.  There’s no way they would be able to get all this on the stage and off between commercial breaks.  If you like Stevie Nicks, you would like this song.  But it’s very subdued and emo/goth.  Very un-idol like.  And very blah of a performance to have this close to the finale.  It did nothing to get the audience pumped.

Jessica’s turn at the center of the stage and recap from last night.  Jimmy didn’t think the performance of “My All” by Mariah Carey was enough.  It wasn’t a shock and awe moment.  He also thought the Aerosmith song was just okay.  He did like the Jackson 5 song though but thought maybe he shouldn’t have chosen it given that it had to be cut to 2 minutes.  Jimmy ends it by saying Jessica could sing in the Grammy’s.

Adam Lambert’s performance… “Never Close Our Eyes”  Wearing a fluorescent green top, nailpolish, and matching earrings.  The song is a very Euro-dance sounding song.  I’m not a huge Adam Lambert fan, but I like him best when he’s more rock than pop.  The song and his facial expressions reminds me of something that would be on Broadway.  It’s a little showy / over the top.  I didn’t love it, but it wasn’t bad.  It’s at least more upbeat and gets the audience pumping better than Lisa Marie Presley.

Phillip’s up at the center of the stage.  Jimmy’s reaction to “Beggin'” was really good.  He liked it a lot.  Jimmy didn’t like “Disease” performance… calling it a “snoozefest.”  Jimmy loved “We’ve got tonight” performance.  Says hands down it was his best performance ever and the best performance of the night.  I agree!!!

THE RESULTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dim the lights!  The first person to the finale is….. JESSICA SANCHEZ!!!  Please please please please be Phillip!  PHILLIP PHILLIPS!!!!!!!!  Goodbye to Joshua Ledet.  I am happy with this.  Even though Jessica didn’t blow me away last night, she is so awesomely talented and entertaining.  Sad to see anyone go, but I guess I’m okay with it being Joshua.  I’m just happy Phillip is in the finale!!

American Idol: Final 3 Perform Season 11, Ep 37

Well I wasn’t going to blog about tonight’s show… I was just going to sit back and relax and watch it, but then I changed my mind when Joshua performed his first song which was one Randy picked that was Etta James song.  Is anyone else bored with Joshua?  I just want him gone now.  I just don’t see him selling any records at all.  He won’t be on the radio, he won’t be selling albums.  End of story.  Time to move on.  Okay, felt compelled to say that.

Jessica Sanchez up next and Jennifer Lopez chose for her to sing My All by Mariah Carey.  The beginning is very shakey.  I think it’s too low for her.  But the rest of it she’s doing a great job on.  There’s a lot of subtle notes and runs that she’s hitting pretty well… at least until it goes a little deeper.  She definitely shines on the higher notes.  She doesn’t seem confident though like she usually does.  It’s probably because she can feel herself kind of lose it on the lower part of the range.  Overall beautiful though.

Steven Tyler chose “Beggin” by Madcon for Phillip Phillips.  Hmmm…. I usually love this song.  I usually love Phillip.  Not loving Phillip singing this song.  It seems to have lost the catchy-ness to the song.  However, the song ends and the crowd goes wild.  Jennifer teases him for messing with the melody, but says it was great.  Steven loved it.  Randy says it was like being at a Phil Phillips concert.  I bet it would have been better live than how it translates on tv.

Now contestant’s choice:

Joshua chose to sing Imagine by John Lennon.  What I usually like about the song is the simplicity of it.  I’m just not liking the background music or singers in this version.  For some reason, it seems to have lost some of the meaning of the song.  Although he says he chose it for the meaning.

Jessica chose Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”  Probably the best cover of this song I have heard, but I wonder why she chose it.  It doesn’t blow me away, but it’s good.  She got a standing ovation from Steven though, so that’s got to be good!

Phillip chose “Disease” by Matchbox 20.  Great choice!!  I really liked it.  He seemed cool and comfortable and I think it was one of my favorites that he’s done so far.  J-Lo didn’t love it, Steven didn’t love it, wow, Randy says he didn’t like it either.  Randy wanted something bigger.  They all said it was just okay.  Are we watching the same show??

Now it’s Jimmy’s pick.  Usually I agree with the songs he picks.

Joshua – “No More Drama” by Mary J Blige.  I think this is going to be good.  This will make him seem more current.  Okay, Joshua has completely redeemed himself in my eyes.  This was great!!  Gave me chills!  Maybe he can be more current than I thought.  Seriously, this was amazing, and I’m not even a fan.

Jessica – Jimmy chose “I’ll Be There” by Jackson 5, also covered by Mariah Carey.  So she basically sung another Mariah Carey song.  It was good though.  I don’t think it’s a performance that’s going to put her in the final, however.  Now I’m thinking the final two will be Joshua and Phillip.

Phillip – “We Got Tonight” by Bob Seger.  Awww it’s the softer side of Phillip.  This is seriously so sweet!!  Jimmy picked a GREAT song!  I think I’m in love.  He’s actually singing more in tune than I thought he was capable of doing.  I like that it’s higher for him than he usually sings.  I loved loved loved loved it.  Judges give a standing ovation!  Best song of the night!!  Phillip is going to win American Idol!

Britney Spears and Demi Lovato new judges on X Factor

The big announcement came today that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will be the new judges on The X Factor.  TMZ reported that Simon Cowell made this announcement this afternoon (May 14) that Britney signed on for a reported $15 million contract! I think we’re all excited to see Britney make a comeback.  Love her or hate her, I feel everyone is secretly rooting for her to get her life back together and be successful.  Demi Lovato didn’t have quite the same level of fame as Britney, but I feel after her stint in rehab and her struggles with eating disorders I am rooting for her as well.  It would be nice if Simon kind of gave them their second chances.

Here is a pic that Simon posted on Twitter of himself and the fellow judges…. Britney, L.A. Reid, Simon, and Demi.

Bachelorette: Emily: Season 8, Episode 1

I have always been a big fan of Emily Maynard’s since she was on Brad’s season.  She has always seemed so sweet and genuine to me.  The new season starts out giving a history of her and her daughter, Ricky.  She was engaged to Ricky’s father when he died in a plane crash.  The Friday after he died she found out she was pregnant with Ricky.  They now live together, just the two of them, in this way awesome house.  I’m not sure what she does for a living or why she has so much money unless her late husband, Ricky, left her with a bunch, but dang! It’s a nice house for two young ladies.  Then the show recaps what happened between her and Brad.  She says she fell in love with him and the day he proposed was one of the happiest days of her life.  But then it all just kind of fell apart.  But what Brad taught her is that she is willing and ready to fall in love again (on national TV, getting paid for it, in 8 weeks span).  lol

So let’s meet the men!

Not going to go through each of the men, but I’ll comment on the ones that stand out to me – for better for worse.

Tony – 30, Beaverton, OR.  Divorcee, father of son, Taylor, who is 5 years old.  He seems like  a sweet guy.  What girl doesn’t find a single dad attractive?  Oh, but he just lost a few points because he said, “what guy with two thumbs is going to marry Emily?  This guy.”  Yeah, that was a cheeseball move.

Jef – Salt Lake City, UT – CEO of a bottle water company that gives back to charity.  He seems very interesting, but a bit odd.

Arie – Race Car Driver – He’s worried that Emily will be cautious of him because Emily’s ex fiancee was a race car driver and died on the way to a race.

She’s about to meet the first batch of men.  This is taking place in Charlotte, NC which is Emily’s hometown.  I find that very cool!  It’s a gorgeous mansion that they’re at too.

Sean is the first one to enter.  Looks very nervous and uptight.   Then in comes David, singer/songwriter… kind of cute, but kind of cocky.  Doug, he’s a single father who opens with talking about his son and asking about Ricky.  I feel it’s a little too early for all of that.  He had a scary look on his face too during all of that.  Just came across a little strong.  Jackson, fitness model, comes in and gets down on one knee and recites a quote.  Joe…. he’s a jokester.  I don’t think he’s going to be classy enough for her.  Kyle, financial manager, keeps looking her up and down.  I don’t like that.  Aaron – Biology teacher – “but here I have chemistry with you”  oh gag.  Alessandro – from Brazil – he’s a weird looking dude.  Also kept looking at her chest.  ugh!  Jef comes in on a skateboard – he looks kind of cute with her because he’s a bit shorter.  Stevie – Event MC – comes in with a boom box and dancing.  A little greasy… I don’t know about him.  Oh god no, Tony comes in with a glass slipper and introduces himself as prince charming.  Oh Tony.  you have let me down!

Out walks a man dressed as an old lady, Randy.  He tears off the outfit and antics aside, he’s a little cute. Just hate the corny entrances.  Nate, 25, accountant…. very cute, Emily tells him he smells good and as he walks away she says “so cute!”  John “Wolf” age 30, pretty cute, but there’s something scary about him as well.  Travis walks in with a giant egg.  It’s a symbol of Emily and Ricky and he says he’ll take care of the egg like he would take care of she and Ricky.  Ugh… another cheeseball.  Michael, long-haired guy, gives her a guitar pic and says “music mike from Austin.”  Alejandro, from Columbia, mushroom farmer.  Hmmm.

Here comes a helicopter.  The guys say “whoever this is we’re all going to hate him.”  Kalon, he said in his opening clip that he used to be a womanizer but now he realizes he wants to settle down.  Yeah sure.  He walks in the room with the guys and they’re all just silent.  They really do hate him.  haha

Now that we’ve met all of the men, I have to say these are some of the most average, just okay looking guys they’ve ever had.  Maybe their personalities will make them look more attractive, but right now I’m not too impressed with the guys.

The cocktail party…. the guys are all just trying to impress her.  Contestant Chris pulls out a bobblehead of himself and then a bobblehead of her.  Okay, that’s really weird.  Then they he suggests they play like barbies with them.  It was a little weird, but Chris is cute, and she says he’s thoughtful.  Jef seemed relaxed and sincere and she says she really likes him and thinks he’s super cool and she just feels like a nerd around him.

Doug pulls out a letter from his 11 year old son that he has written for Emily.  This is a lengthy letter!  Again, I think this is a bit strong for the first date!  The guys keep referring to Kalon as “helicopter guy.”  It’s really funny!  Arie talks to her about how he ride race cars and wanted to make sure she was okay with that.  She said she has a lot of fond memories at the track and it’s really the only sport she knows much about, and she thought it was really sweet that he was concerned about it.

Ugh!! She is giving the first impression rose to Doug, the single father, who really laid it on thick about his son.  Not who I was hoping she would give it to!  Oh well.

Rose ceremony time! Roses go to:  Chris (mr bobblehead), Ryan, Kalon (Helicopter guy), Arie (Race car driver), Charlie (Head injury guy), Jef (Skateboarder, CEO bottled water), Nate (the cutie), Sean, Joe (the jokester), Kyle, Aaron (Biology teacher), Alejandro, John, Alessandro, Michael (guitar pick guy), Stevie (DJ), Tony (single dad of 5 year old), final rose goes to Travis (Ostrich egg guy).

David, the singer/songwriter went home, Brent with 6 kids went home, and some other boring guys that I don’t even remember anything about went home.  These guys are really taking it hard though!!

I really think this is going to be a great season!  I love this year’s Bachelorette!

Real Housewives of New Jersey “Drowning Pool” Season 4, Ep 4

Last episode ended with the blow out between Teresa and Melissa at the summer solstice party.  This episode begins with the outside parties all discussing the argument.  Richie says he’s done with Teresa.  Kathy still wants to give her the benefit of the doubt because she’s going through tough times.  Caroline feels that Teresa will never be happy until her brother divorces Melissa.  Albert says he wants to remain Switzerland and not take sides.  Kathy discusses having an end of school party and how she wants to invite everyone but is worried about drama between Teresa and Melissa.

Melissa and Teresa are now discussing the fight with their husbands.  Joe Guidice calls Melissa “horsey face”, “gold digger”, and “slut”.  Ugh… Joe Guidice is so gross.  I can’t stand his personality and he’s not the least bit attractive.  Teresa exaggerates the whole argument while Melissa paints a more true picture of the fight while she explains what happened to her husband Joe Gorga.

Teresa goes over Jacqueline’s house and J confronts her about how T put her in a bad position at the party.  She felt she was really placed in the middle of the argument between M and T.  T says J is her friend and should have loyalty to her.  J is still annoyed with T but says she’s not going to end the friendship over it.  J has her personal trainer come over to work out T and J and the personal trainer is completely drunk… even brought booze with her.  J says she’s surrounded by crazy today.

Christopher goes to check out a $80,000 jaguar car.  Albie and Lauren go with him.  They know their mom, Caroline, will not be pleased he’s about to buy that car.  Caroline flat out tells him she wouldn’t buy the car if it were him.  Then the kids surprise her and tell her that the car actually isn’t for Christopher, it is for her.  Albert bought it for her for their anniversary.

Kathy has her end of school party for her kids.  And nobody shows up.  Turns out Kathy’s husband, Richie, told their kids, “play along, but don’t invite your friends.  You don’t want people at school knowing you’re related to the Guidices.”  I find that so funny!! But so smart of Richie because he knows it’s not going to be pretty once Melissa and Teresa show up.

Jacqueline Skypes with her daughter Ashlee and she misses Ashlee, but she doesn’t seem to be changing yet.  She still has an attitude and not much direction or ambition.  Jacqueline says until she can come up with a plan for her life, she’s not coming back home.

The Gorgas and the Guidices show up at Kathy’s house. You could cut the tension with a knife between Melissa and Teresa.  You know it’s just a matter of time before it comes to a head and explodes.

Caroline and Albert celebrate their 37 years of marriage by reflecting back on their lives together and raising their children.  It’s nice to see a happy, sane family.

Joe Gorga sits down with Teresa to have a heart to heart and she begins to cry.  He says he doesn’t want to argue.  She says she can’t take it anymore, it’s too stressful.  She’s worried about saying the wrong thing.  She feels like she can’t say anything to him without him running to Melissa.  Teresa is so upset that Joe told Melissa what Teresa told him.  Teresa tells Joe he’s changed since he got married.  She feels that Joe doesn’t care about her at all and hasn’t been there for her since he got married.  Joe is frustrated that Teresa never takes the blame for anything.  He tells her she got lost in life.  He doesn’t even know where his sister is anymore. He finally tells T to get the F’ out of here and tells her she’s a bitch.  She gathers her kids and storms out.  This argument further puts me on Team Melissa.  Teresa just can’t ever see that she might be in the wrong.  It would be frustrating to be her brother.
