The Bachelor: Juan Pablo – After the Final Rose – Recap

We just watched the worst Bachelor finale in HISTORY, and now it’s time to get some updates and answers during the After the Final Rose Live television event.

Chris Harrison invites Clare on stage first.  Clare is still speechless and says it still hurts.  She still says she doesn’t want to repeat what he said to her on the helicopter.  She admits she should have left instead of letting Juan Pablo reassure her.  She said she just went in with all of her guard down and she thought that there was a man here that was wanting to find love and marriage, but he turned out not to be that man.  Chris asks her if she wants Juan Pablo to come out and talk to her.  She said she got her closure in Saint Lucia, she told him how she felt and that how he treated her was not okay and she doesn’t want to be fed anymore B.S.  She does not want to talk to him.

Chris then brings Juan Pablo out to give his side of the story, just without Clare sitting there.  Juan Pablo says it’s been a long wait and he’s happy to be able to be out in the real world.  Juan Pablo rambles on about how he likes some, he doesn’t like others, and blah blah blah.  Chris interrupts him to steer the conversation back on track after he rambles for awhile and Juan Pablo interrupts him back and says, “Can I talk?  Wheeeew!”  Completely rude!!  Chris then asks what his thoughts are on Clare.  He says they had a rollercoaster ride and it ended how it ended.  Chris asks if he would have done anything differently in the helicopter with Clare if he had the chance to do it over again.  He said that he was just being himself, she’s going to be herself… then more talking in circles that doesn’t even make sense…. but he says “it’s fine, no regrets.”  Chris moves on and then Juan Pablo interrupts to say “regrets?  is there something I should regret?”  And Chris says “the offensive comment you made in the helicopter.” and Juan Pabs just shrugs and doesn’t get it.

Now out comes Nikki… this should be good…. Nikki says they’re still in a relationship and it’s been great.  Been hard in hiding, but she’s in love.  Chris asks if he’s in love with her and she said, “I don’t know… I hope so.”  Apparently he still hasn’t told her that he loves her.  She says he wouldn’t be here if he didn’t care about her and she’s not going to force it.

Juan Pablo then joins Nikki on the couch.  Juan Pablo says that he’s happy and he’s happy that this is the end of them in hiding and now they can go out and be free together.   Chris says “our Executive Producers say you have a surprise tonight…” he says “I do?  I don’t have a surprise.  You’re talking about a surprise, not me.”  Chris drills him on whether he’s in love with Nikki and he said “I’m not going to answer that.”    Chris keeps pushing and pushing him to say how he feels about her.  Nikki defends Juan Pablo and says it’s real and they’re taking it very seriously.  This so much more awkward than even Ben and Courtney were.  Looking at the two of them… they don’t seem the least bit comfortable with each other and it’s just WEIRD.

Juan Pablo said that their plans changed drastically during the Women Tell All taping.  He said they’re keeping it quiet, they want to keep it private.  Something happened, he received some information, before the Women Tell All.  So for now, they’re going to live in separate places.  Catherine says “don’t slap the hand that fed you,”  bashing him for being disrespectful to the show.  And why not share the information about future plans and feelings.  *** UPDATE *** Rumor has it that the thing that “dramatically changed” what their plans were was that Juan Pablo was expecting to be able to be on the next Dancing with the Stars.  However, he was dropped from consideration after his homophobic comments came out when asked about the possibility of a gay bachelor.

Next the revealed the next Bachelorette is Andi Dorfman, which we already knew, but we are happy about this decision! We see a closer look at her job, Assistant District Attorney who prosecutes anything gang related in Atlanta.  Andi enters the stage and is giddy and excited and nervous.  At least next season will be better!!

The Bachelor: Juan Pablo Finale – Recap

***UPDATE*** What Juan Pablo said in the helicopter to Clare was… she said tell me you love me and he said, “I don’t know you, you don’t know me, I don’t know if I love you, but I sure love fucking you.”  Words every woman wants to hear!  Makes us swoon! (obvious sarcasm)

So, by now we’re all pretty much over Juan Pablo and we’re just watching because we’re curious how it all ends… but thank god it’s ending!  What a disappointing season this turned out to be.  Originally ABC struck gold with Juan Pablo but that soured after his homophobic comments he made in an interview and his true colors shining through plain as day on the fantasy suite episode.

Juan Pablo and the remaining two women, Clare and Nikki, are in the country of Saint Lucia still.  Juan Pabs’ family, including Camila, joins him to meet the ladies.  Clare is first up to have a date with Juan Pablo and meet his family.  Clare is awe struck by Juan Pablo as a dad.  She says it makes him sexier.  I’m not sure who drives me more nuts… Clare and how she holds her mouth open after everything she says or Juan Pablo acting like he’s so smooth just because he has a daughter.  Juan Pablo’s mom tells Clare that he is very hyperactive, lots of energy.  That’s pretty obvious.  His mom even says that his “honesty” comes across as rude and it makes her cry at times too.  RED FLAG!!!  Don’t go for a guy who makes him mom cry with hurtful words!  Hello!  Then his cousin tells Clare that Juan Pablo has a tendency to run when the going gets tough.  Another red flag!  His dad tells Clare that she’s really something and he’ll remember her no matter how it turns out.  If he does pick Clare then his dad welcomes her into the family with open arms.

Now it’s Nikki’s turn to meet the family that he didn’t meet a few weeks ago in Miami at Camila’s dance recital.  Nikki explains to them all the places they’ve traveled.  Nikki talks to Juan Pablo’s father and he warns Nikki that “he thinks he knows the truth in everything.”  In other words, the man always thinks he’s right.  ANOTHER red flag.  His cousin says the same way to Nikki as he did to Clare about how when the going gets tough, Juan Pablo just takes off.  His family isn’t exactly trashing him, but they’re trying to give these girls a realistic picture of what he is truly like.  These women don’t seem to be picking up what they’re throwing down.  They’re off in Juan Pablo la la land.

Next day, Clare has a date with just Juan Pablo where they take helicopter ride around the island.  Then it takes an unexpected turn… Clare says that as the helicopter landed, there were no cameras, no audio, and Juan Pablo whispered something to her that apparently offended her.  She said she expected something sweet, but it wasn’t.  She said it was something like he doesn’t even know her  – she doesn’t know him, something sexual and something disrespectful that she doesn’t even want to repeat.  Her feelings for Juan Pablo have totally changed now.

For the evening part of the date, he comes to her place for their date and Clare takes this opportunity to confront him.  As she talks, Juan Pablo starts dismissing her like Andi was complaining that he does.  “Okay okay okay, sure, yup.”  Clare says she has a lot more to offer a relationship than just the physical part.  Juan Pablo works his charm though and eventually, with some teeth pulling, tells her what she wants to hear and she starts melting.  Ugh!!  I ALMOST had respect for Clare for a minute.   She said now she knows he wants her here.

Now it’s his date with Nikki.  They board a boat and Nikki says in her interview that she wants to hear all the things that Juan Pablo feels about her.  She’s really been wanting to hear it.  He asks her if she has any concerns and she tells him that she feels he is guarded and is sometimes afraid that he will get hurt.  He says “no, I’m not guarded.  Not guarded at all.  If I feel it, I say it.”  But then doesn’t tell her anything about complimentary or how he’s feeling about anything.  Awkward silence and a look of deflation from Nikki.

At dinner, Nikki says to the camera again that she wants to hear it from him tonight how he’s feeling… that it’s her and how in love with her he is.  She keeps trying to get him to say something and he doesn’t say much of anything.  She gives him a picture and a card that pours her heart out in it and he doesn’t say anything other than “thank you” and kisses her.   Then he tells her he’ll see her tomorrow and get some sleep.   Nothing.  He says NOTHING.  For the first time I honestly feel bad for Nikki.  This whole episode is so hard to watch!!  He leaves and she just falls apart and starts crying.

The next morning, both women say if Juan Pablo proposes to them they will say yes.  The entire mood of both of them seems more optimistic.  I can already tell something big is going to go down because there is still twenty minutes left in this episode and usually they do this in like the last 10 minutes or less of the show.  Something big is going to happen, I just know it.

1394554896_juan-clare-zoomClare is the first out of the boat going to Juan Pablo which usually means she will be going home without a proposal, rose, and without him.  After Clare makes the long walk towards Juan Pablo, she tells him she’s nervous.  He of course says “it’s okay.”  And then she launches into her speech about how she’s like him from the beginning, they had ups and downs, but she believes in him.  He then tells her that she’s amazing and he appreciates her being there, but he has to do what he thinks is best for him and say goodbye to her.  He then takes a step closer to her and she stops him.  The live audiences roars in applause.  She lets him have it.  He says “Do you want me to tell me when I made my decision?”  She said, “It doesn’t matter” and begins to walk away, she stops, turns back and says, “I’ve lost respect for you.  You having put me through what you just put me through…. I wouldn’t want my children to have a father like that.”  He says “mmhmm okay.”  UGH!!!  Enough with the “okays!!!”   He does not seem the least bit fazed by this at all.  And a small amount of respect is restored for Clare.  Camera pans back to Juan Pablo and he says “Whew!  Glad I didn’t pick her!”  that should never be something you say about your #2 pick on the day of the finale!!

Now it’s Nikki’s turn to arrive by boat to Juan Pablo and take her long walk towards him.  She says she can’t wait for Juan Pablo to tell her that he loves her.  She launches into what she loves about him and that she wants to be a part of his life and Camila’s life.  She ends it with “I love you.”  Juan Pablo then gives his speech to Nikki and says that he has the ring in his pocket but he’s not going to propose because he’s not 100% sure he wants to marry her.  Words every woman can’t wait to hear!  “I’m 100% sure I don’t want to let you go.  I like you a lot… A LOT.  So Nikki, will you accept my final rose.”  And Nikki says “Absolutely.”  Seriously, girl?

Nikki final rose

Well that was the worst ending EVER in Bachelor history!!!

The Bachelor: Juan Pablo – Women Tell All Recap

Women Tell All

If the teasers don’t fail me, this could be one of the more heated Women Tell All episodes.  As we have all seen, the onion layers of Juan Pablo (okay, that’s being a bit generous giving him that many layers) have begun to unfold and what is underneath is not nearly as pretty as what is on the outside.  The women now see his true colors and they are not happy about it.

Chris Harrison first welcomes Sean and Catherine to the stage to do a little recap of what’s been going on since they got laid, I mean got married.  Catherine is sporting new bangs that look great on her.  Sean Lowe describes their wedding night together (first time they’ve had sex) as “Fireworks!” and Catherine is quick to correct him and laughs and says “QUICK Fireworks.  Quick!”  hahaha… love this couple!

Now getting to the good stuff… Chris introduces all of the bachelorette that were once vying for Juan Pablo.  First, we see clips of Juan Pablo being hot and the ladies falling all over him.  Then the ladies begin to dish about how there isn’t much under the surface level for him.  It’s all just looks.  He wasn’t genuine, he didn’t ask questions about them, and he didn’t try to get to know them at all.

They discuss how Juan Pablo put the situation in Vietnam all on Clare even though he was just as to blame, if not more.  He was a willingly participate.  He didn’t handle it well by making Clare feel bad about it.  Sharleen says “I think he had a bit of buyers’ remorse.”

First up in the hot seat… Sharleen.  We see the recap of their relationship and Sharleen on the Women Tell All stage watching it play back.  It’s hard to watch… she’s still a bit emotional about it.  But she said she still knows he wasn’t the one for her.  She admits there just wasn’t anything beyond and a physical attraction.  She defended him by saying that she found him very “curious”… he wanted to know more about her.  She still feels strongly about him and begins to blush talking about him.  But truth is, she’s just too smart for him.

Now Renee is in the hot seat.  She admits that she really was in love with Juan Pablo, but she doesn’t have regrets and know that it’s a two way street.  She knows they were way behind the other relationships… she was the last one he kissed.  Renee reveals that she is dating, but she doesn’t give any details about it.  I bet it’s someone we would know!  She says she is very happy.

Andi’s turn on stage with Chris Harrison and we get to hear about what went wrong in the fantasy suite.  She said going into the fantasy suite, she felt like she could fall in love with him.  She said there was a lot of negativity in their conversation.  He was being negative about the process.  She was mentally done when Juan Pablo says he already had an overnight date with Clare.  She admits she closed her eyes and pretend she was sleeping.  She still believes in the process though and that “great love” can be found through the Bachelor series.  Read into that clue as much as you would like.  🙂

Finally Juan Pablo’s turn to come out and face the women.  Juan Pablo says he’s nervous but he believes he has a few friends on the stage.  Juan Pablo says that he has no regret, he’s been “honest” to all of the ladies.  Again he says he has no regrets on how he treated the ladies.  Lauren S addresses Juan Pablo first and admits she was trying to force something there that wasn’t there.  She asked why didn’t he just say he wasn’t into her when she tried to kiss him rather than say he didn’t want to kiss because his daughter would be watching.  He also doesn’t see why it was bad meeting Renee’s son Ben during hometown visits if he didn’t feel she was the one.  That’s not taking her son into consideration at all, but he doesn’t see it like that.  He says he introduces his daughter to ladies on their first date.  He doesn’t see why that might not be the best thing to do.

Kelly brought up the gay statement Juan Pablo made about gays being more perverted.  She explains that she comes from a gay parent and she was very hurt by that.  Juan Pablo said it was taken out of context and he offered to talk to Kelly in private about what he meant.  He said he doesn’t want to waste four minutes here talking about it when he can spend an hour talking with her about it off camera.  Such a cop out!  He just doesn’t want to mix up his words or put his foot in his mouth on camera again.  He says he loves gay people and respects them, they were born that way.  Sharleen defends him and says they talked about it on one of their dates and he is for equality.

Blooper reel!!  Pretty funny stuff including how many freaking times he said “okay” on his dates.

So this was kind of a let down.  I didn’t feel this was too dramatic at all.  Again, the producers of The Bachelor over sell us on an episode.

Lots of crying next episode.  Finale is next week followed by the After the Final Rose episode.

Spoiler Alert: The Next Bachelorette Is…

final four

It shouldn’t be too much of a shocker who the lucky lady is that was chosen to be the next Bachelorette.  Andi Dorfman who voluntarily left the show in this week’s episode has been an audience favorite since episode 1 of the current season The Bachelor featuring Juan Pablo.  In this week’s Bachelor episode, we saw more of Juan Pablo’s true colors than ever before.  After the “romantic” overnight date in the famous fantasy suite, Andi told it like it is to Juan Pablo and America applauded.  Juan Pablo was very dismissive of the advice Andi tried to give him on how to communication in a relationship.  It’s not all about talking, it’s about acknowledging the other person’s feelings and listening.  A point that Juan Pablo had clearly missed and remained clueless about as Andi was driven away. Now Andi will have the chance of being the one in charge and being as selective as she wants to be when she is the Bachelorette next season.

Andi is an assistant district attorney in Atlanta, GA and has asked for a leave of absence from work so that she can be the next Bachelorette.  A move that has her boss puzzled (TMZ reports) as to why she would want to put a career (and a murder trial which is currently underway) on hold to pursue a dating reality show.  However, to many Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants, the show has helped them launch a career in the spotlight and I feel that is exactly what she has in mind.  Andi’s job is being held for her, without pay, and with the stipulation that she will return to work by May 31st.  Something tells me that won’t be happening.

The Bachelor: Juan Pablo – Episode 9 (Fantasy Suite) Recap

Photo cred: US Magazine

Photo cred: US Magazine

So tonight is the infamous “fantasy suite” date night on The Bachelor.  Love it or hate it, it’s usually the most interesting episode of the season.  Juan Pablo and the remaining three ladies: Andi, Nikki, and Clare venture off to the island of Saint Lucia.  Sure seems like all of this traveling would be exhausting!

ClareHis first date is with Clare.  They take a tiny boat around looking at the sights and then they pull up to a beautiful yacht.  They talk for a bit and Clare keeps contemplating whether or not she’s going to take advantage of the fantasy suite.  She’s worried about setting a good example for Juan Pablo’s daughter after what happened in Vietnam.  To me, she totally has her mind made up, but she doesn’t want to come across to America as easy or whatever, so she’s acting all coy about it.  She knows exactly what she’s going to do.  She just wants Juan Pablo to chase her a bit.

For dinner they go down in this really cool cave that’s all candlelit and romantic setting.  After some conversation, Clare opens the Fantasy Suite card that states that if they should choose to forgo their individual rooms, there is a key to the fantasy suite.  Clare questions (paraphrasing here) why being in Saint Lucia is different than the time they spent together in Vietnam.  Juan Pablo explains that these are the overnight dates.  This is what the expectation is and so it’s different than what happened in Vietnam.  What a load of crap.  I really do like Juan Pablo, but the man wants to get laid and now his daughter and what she thinks of this whole thing doesn’t matter.  Once they get to the fantasy suite, Clare tells him she’s falling in love with him.  They get in the hot tub, and the rest is history….

AndiNext morning, Juan Pablo has his date with Andi.  The walk the streets of the town and come to this little seafood festival thing going on.  They get to have fun playing some drums, eating local food, and playing soccer with some children that are around.  Then they got in a land buggie thing and drove to the jungle area and get to Latille Falls.  They talk about her hometown date and meeting her family… how intimidating her father was, but that he has a right to be protective.  JP and Andi relax under the waterfall and she is just on cloud nine.  She definitely seems smitten.

At dinner, Juan Pablo addresses his concern to Andi about how she said she “badly” wants to fall in love.  Juan Pablo said that forcing things won’t turn out well, so he wants to make sure she’s not forcing anything.  She said that wanting things strongly is different than forcing things and as much as she wants to fall in love, she doesn’t want it forced either.  Andi reads the fantasy suite and says that if he’s serious about them then she definitely wants to do the fantasy suite.  They go to the fantasy suite… they start kissing…. lights go out…. rest is history…. Juan Pablo is again, a very lucky man.

Juan Pablo wakes up in the morning and says in his interview that last night he and Andi talked and “talked” for hours…. hours…. HOURS.  Juan Pablo says that Andi could be the one… she’s just so cute, they have great chemistry, they just get along well.  He seems almost giddy.  THEN, we see Andi and she’s says “waking up in the morning, I just couldn’t wait to get out of the fantasy suite.”  Whoa… two completely different takes on what went on last night!  She said the fantasy suite turned into a nightmare… she saw a side of him that she didn’t really like.  “I really hope he did not think that that was a good date.”  Oh my!!  She explains that every time she tried to talk about her life, her past, her aspirations, he would turn it on to himself and started talking about what he wanted.  She said she felt like he didn’t care about her feelings or anything about her.  He didn’t ask her any questions about herself.  Kept telling all of these stories, name dropping, and then the icing on the cake was that he said that he just had an overnight date with Clare.  She says she just knows now that he’s not the one.  There’s nothing to figure out.

IMG_20140225_224604_808Now it’s his date with Nikki.  Nikki really couldn’t be any more revealing in what she’s wearing.   She has pants on, but basically no top.  They go horseback riding on the beach and then a little picnic. They talk about how Juan Pablo told Nikki’s dad that he wasn’t 100% sure on which girl he’s going to pick and that makes Nikki feel very uneasy.  Nikki’s hoping to be able to tell him tonight that she loves him.

They sit down at dinner, Nikki reads the fantasy suite card, and she accepts.  Juan Pablo says “Nikki and I get to be together… FINALLY.”   The two go to the fantasy suite and Nikki tells him that she loves him.  After what Andi said, Juan Pablo definitely seems less attractive to me.  I have been noticing over the last few episodes how little he actually has a conversation with the women.  He just pets their faces and hair a lot and kisses them whenever they try talking.  I’m glad smart women like Sharleen and Andi have seen through this and have realized that they want and deserve more.  What a disappointment Juan Pablo has turned out to be.

Juan Pablo sits down with Chris Harrison, stressing over this decision that he thinks he has to make, but little does he know that Andi has fallen out of infatuation with him.  I wish I had a counter for how many times Juan Pablo said “overnight” in this episode.  That was clearly his focus this week.

He then watches the video messages from the ladies… Nikki first, then Clare…. then Andi’s which says she wants to share her thoughts with him in person.  She makes the long walk to where Juan Pablo is and they sit down together.  Andi starts talking, Juan Pablo starts petting her hair.  She tells him that she just realized that he wasn’t the one for her, and that she doesn’t see them together.  Juan Pablo very flippantly says “that’s okay… if it’s not meant to be it’s not meant to be.  It’s okay” and just shrugs.  Wow, way to make a girl feel like she meant something!  He had a similar reaction when Sharleen left.  Maybe it’s a defense mechanism, but it definitely comes across as flippant.  She calls him out on that and he blames it on the language barrier.  He said she only has one man to think about but he has other women he has to think about.  Through this conversation he tells her he barely picked her over Renee.  She says he said she was there by default, but he corrects her and says that he said she was barely there over Renee.  Wow…. not winning any points with me, buddy.

Juan Pablo said in his interview that the argument just killed it for him.  If she wanted to say, he would say no, he says.  The fact that Juan Pablo saw her voicing her opinion as a turn off is a huge red flag for me.  He wants someone who is just going to agree with him, smile, look pretty, and let him do whatever he wants to do.  ICK!  This whole episode just killed everything for me.  Team Andi for being the next Bachelorette!!!

Clare and Nikki come out at the rose ceremony… Nikki looks confused and almost pissed that her BFF Andi isn’t there.  Juan Pablo says Andi chose to go home, that she didn’t see a future with him.   He explains it hurt…  YEAH RIGHT.  He did not seem hurt at all.  He gives the roses to the two remaining girls, and they both accept.  Blah… I seriously don’t care who he picks at this point.

Next week the Women Tell All Episode, and the following week is the finale “that no one will see coming” Chris Harrison says.  I’m hoping both the girls decide they’re too good for him.

The Bachelor: Juan Pablo – Episode 8 Recap: Hometown Dates

Juan PabloI cannot even WAIT to watch tonight’s episode!  The teasers make it show like it is going to be quite the wild, emotional ride!

Nikki hometownImmediately, the show gets right to it with the ladies’ hometown dates.  First, we are at Nikki’s hometown of Kansas City, MO.  They meet up and she shows him around the city, walking to various sites and taking him to Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue restaurant.  Juan Pablo seems to really be enjoying the food and says he’d get fat eating that barbecue everyday.  Then she takes him to a bar with a mechanical bull inside.  Could this be anything more opposite than a date Sharleen would have taken him on??  So not the class and sophistication he liked in Sharleen, but he still seems to be having a good time.  Looks good riding the bull too!  Nikki says she really wants to tell him she loves him, but now isn’t the right time.

So now she takes him to meet her family.   He is meeting her mom, dad, and her two brothers and a sister-in-law.  First impression of them is that they are classy and refined, unlike the side of Nikki we saw earlier.  Nikki sits down with her mom and tells her how much she likes Juan Pablo.  Her mom is very supportive and says she just wants to see her happy.  Nikki father, Tom, then sits down with Juan Pablo.  Tom tells Juan Pablo that he trusts his daughter and her decisions, but he also worries about her getting hurt.  Ultimately, he supports her and tells Juan Pablo that he would accept him and his daughter into their family.  Her dad then gives his support to her and tells her that no matter what they will stand by her and her decisions.  Very loving, supportive family.  Juan Pablo and Nikki kiss goodbye, but she still hasn’t told him that she loves him.

andi-and-jpg-on-hometowns-1392838804Juan Pablo now ventures off to Atlanta, GA to be with Andi and meeting her family.  Andi first takes Juan Pablo to the gun range.  Andi shoots first and BULLS-EYE!  She is tough!  She looks pretty hot doing it, but scary at the same time.  Juan Pabs tries next and he misses, misses, misses…. he can’t shoot a gun at all.  Then he FINALLY got a bullseye.  ugh… I don’t like guns though… this whole thing makes me uneasy!

Off to meet Andi’s family now.  Andi is nervous and doesn’t know how it’s going to go.  They have a sign for her that says “Welcome Home Pookie.”  He gets to meet her mom, dad, and sister and brother-in-law.  They start telling the family about the dating process and how many group dates she’s been on.  Her dad says “You were down to eight women and you still hadn’t had a one-on-one date?!”  Her dad doesn’t let up razzing him.  Andi’s mom, Patty, takes Juan Pablo aside first and asks what he likes about Andi.  Juan Pablo is visibly uncomfortable.  Patty then asked him to dance out on the porch.  He says “let’s call Andi, we’ll dance!”  hahaha… didn’t want to dance with just the mom.  I can’t blame him!!  He dances with Andi a bit and then dances with Patty.  They look like they’re all having fun.  Then her dad sits on the porch with Juan Pablo and he begins the grilling…. why did you want to go on the show?  What are you looking for?  Her dad tells him he has it backwards and he shouldn’t be looking first for who makes a good stepmom to Camila, he needs to find first who he has a connection with and THEN decide if she fits into his life with Camila.  You can tell that Juan Pabs does not agree with that.    JP then asks dad if he would be welcomed into his family if in the end he chooses Andi.  Dad says in his interview that he doesn’t know JP well enough to wish him any ill will, but it’s not about Andi finding someone, it’s about finding someone good enough.  He said he won’t give Juan Pablo an answer until his daughter is the only one left.   He can’t give his blessing while he dating three other women.

Andi then sits down with her sister and her sister says she can see the doubt in Andi.  That she just doesn’t know and she can tell Andi doesn’t know.  Andi was really hoping someone in the family would say “I totally see it… he’s the one for you”  to give her reassurance.  What I’m seeing is that these women are finding him incredibly attractive but they’re not connecting on a deeper level.  Andi though says that she just has this instinct with him and she’s very close to falling in love with him.

Renee hometownNow in sunny Sarasota, FL to Renee’s hometown!  Yay Renee!  I hope this goes well.  Juan Pablo is going with Renee to see her son Ben.  She says she hasn’t seen him in 2 months.  I actually doubt that that’s the case.  What was she doing when he was on his other hometown dates?  I think this is for the cameras, but I could be wrong, I suppose.  In any event, it was still neat to see them reunited and Juan Pablo meeting him.  It’s the first little league game Juan Pablo has seen and is just loving it.

Renee then takes her to meet her parents and her brother.  She takes her son up to his room and Juan Pablo sits down with her family and talks heart to heart with them.  Then her mom tells her that she wants her to be “in love”.  She said “You need to be IN LOVE… because, we love our pets, but you need to be IN love with him.”  Made me laugh.  I like Renee’s mom!  But again, Renee hasn’t told Juan Pablo that she loves him.  He kisses her goodbye, even asked her what she was thinking, and she still didn’t say it!!  I am seeing a definite theme here!!  These women either don’t have that strong of feelings for him or he picked women that all have a difficulties expressing their feelings.

Clare hometownFinal hometown date and it’s with Clare in Sacramento, CA.  Juan Pablo says when he’s with Clare he just feels good and there seems to be relaxation in his voice.  He looks very comfortable.  Clare tells him about what it was like when her dad was dying and questions she asked him.  Listening to her talk about her dad and how great he sounded and how close they were, makes me admire her strength for being able to share that information and yet keep it all together.  She’s not my favorite for Juan Pablo, but the girl is strong and confident, and that’s admirable.

The arrive at her family’s house and he’s meeting her mom, and 4 sisters and a brother-in-law.  Clare’s sisters are quite a bit older than she is so they’re all kind of like mother hens over her.  Her sister Madeline had a good talk with her and could see the love that Clare is feeling for him.  Three of the sisters seem to be on board.  Clare then sits down with her mom and another sister, Laura.  This sister is really coming down hard on Clare and says that she can’t give her blessing yet to Juan Pablo.  Clare goes on the defense and says they haven’t seen how happy she’s been even without the cameras.  Clare is trying to ask her mom how she feels about it all and Laura is just hovering over and telling Clare not to manipulate their mama.  Then Juan Pablo wants to sit down with her mom, and Laura jumps right in and won’t let Juan Pablo sit with her mom by himself.  Juan Pablo was able to set Laura’s mind at ease and she finally felt comfortable to get up and leave JP with her mom.  Clare’s mom says she’s supportive and trusts that they will make the right decision and that he will be welcomed in the family if he chooses Clare.  Juan Pablo says he really likes Clare’s mom.  Overall, despite Laura’s weird behavior, the hometown date went well.  Juan Pablo is so smooth, calm, level-headed through all of these crazy dates!

Back in Miami and now he has to eliminate someone after having met their families.  This definitely has to be one of the hardest weeks to send someone home aside from the final episode.  At this point, I really don’t know which one he will send home.  I am hoping for Nikki, but really unsure.

Roses get handed to… Nikki (darn!), Clare, Andi.   Aww man…. it’s Renee.  I knew they had mostly just a friendship, but I was really hoping they would develop more chemistry and be happy together.  Goodbye Renee.  We love you and hope you’re the next Bachelorette!!!  Juan Pablo is again crying at sending someone home, but I know this must be hard.  He tells her he respects her a lot and it’s really hard.  I sincerely believe he means that.  I hope they remain friends.  She’s a good person.

THEN tomorrow night!!!!  The fantasy suite dates in St Lucia!  All three of the girls crying, Andi says that “last night was a disaster”.   Apparently Juan Pablo admits to Andi that he had an overnight date with Clare (in other words, he had sex with her) the jokes that Andi is there by default.  “It’s fine” Juan Pablo says. “It’s not fine, how can it be fine?” Andi asks back to him.  Can’t wait to see how everything goes down.  Looks like “the most dramatic dates ever”!!  Fantasy suite dates are the most interesting to watch because as Jimmy Kimmel points out “It’s when Juan Pablo has sex with three girls to figure out which one he wants to marry” and we’re all just supposed to be okay with that.  So yeah, of course we’ll be tuning in.  🙂  Goodnight!

Juan Pablo final 3

Brooke Burke-Charvet blindsided by being replaced by Erin Andrews on DWTS

Erin Andrews

Erin Andrews

Erin Andrews will replace Brooke Burke-Charvet on Dancing With the Stars after her seven series run.  The switch up (firing) must have been a shock to Brooke who issued this statement to E! Online:

“I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture,” Burke-Charvet said. “I’ve always been one to embrace change and [I’m] looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn’t able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show. I’ve seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom, but this one takes the cake.”

FOX Sports Reporter, Erin Andrews was a contestant on DWTS during season 10 and will now be co-hosting Tom Bergeron in the show’s 18th season.

Brooke is putting on a happy face and not burning bridges by tweeting:

Will changing co-hosts help the ratings of the show?   What do you think?

The Bachelor: Juan Pablo – Episode 7 Recap – In Miami

Juan-Pablo-and-Camila-5

It’s Monday night, my favorite night of the week during the Bachelor/Bachelorette seasons, and I am feeling a bit under the weather so I wasn’t going to do a recap, but five minutes into and I can’t resist.  I love discussing what’s going on with the show!

Juan Pabs and the ladies are in his current hometown of Miami, FL.  Juan Pablo got to surprise his daughter, Camila, and spend time with his family.  The women were put up in a gorgeous penthouse suite and they begin imagining their lives in Miami with Juan Pablo.  After dealing with this horrible Michigan winter, I would definitely move to Miami in a heartbeat!

Juan Pablo tells his cousin all about Sharleen and how she could be the one.  They NEVER say things like this on The Bachelor.  The Bachelor never says who is the frontrunner, especially this early on.  So what I’m thinking is that Sharleen is going to decide to leave the show.  Just before JP is telling his cousin all about her, Sharleen says in her interview that she’s not ready to introduce Juan Pablo to her family.  I’m thinking she’s just not that into him.

He surprises the girls in their hotel and says he’s going to just hand the date card to the one he’s taking on the date and she’ll go get ready and then they’ll leave from there.  Sharleen is the one he gives it too.  She looks very apprehensive and it was super awkward.  “Come SEA my CITY” the card says.  Sharleen says in her interview before the date that they’re missing this “cerebral connection.”  Basically meaning he’s not intelligent enough for her and they can’t connect on a deeper, intellectual level.

The two go on their date aboard a yacht.  Sharleen says she’ll know after this date if there’s potential there.  However, she’s extremely physically attracted to him and has a hard time not kissing him when they’re together.  She calls him ridiculously sexy.

They go on a little island and have some deeper conversation.  They talk about her job and how she’s put her career first before anything else… she says that her priorities are changing and she likes change… “change is good,” she says.

During dinner they make out some more.  She said she still needs to find out if they connect on a deeper level, but she can’t stop kissing him!  Juan Pablo asks her how she feels about him meeting her family.  She said, “I think it will be okay….”  Sharleen says in her interview that when she’s lying there with him everything seems right, but there’s just a little voice in the back of her head that’s saying it’s not right.

Next date card… Nikki… “Listen to my heart beat.”  Nikki’s first comment is, “I have to dance again?!”  Chelsea feels Nikki always has something negative to say and can’t just be happy.

Sharleen gets home and she confides in Renee about how her feelings aren’t so black and white.  She feels guilty taking that spot from someone who really is feeling something.  Renee tells her what if she regrets it though and she makes a huge mistake.  Renee encourages Sharleen to stay.

NikkiJuan Pablo and Nikki meet up for their date.  The two go into flower shop and JP tells Nikki that they’re going to make a floral arrangement for Camila for her dance recital.  Nikki is shocked but honored that she’s going to be meeting Camila and the rest of Juan Pablo’s family and Camila’s mother.

Date card arrives…. Chelsea, Renee, Clare, Andi… “My hometown for YOURS…”  a second card tells the ladies that there will be a date rose on that date and that means he gets to go to their hometown and meet their family.

Carla - Camila's mom Stunning!

Carla – Camila’s mom
Stunning!

Back on the date they go to Camila’s dance recital and it’s truly the cutest thing ever!  Camila is quite the star!!  Camila’s mom, Carla, who is absolutely stunning, doesn’t look all that thrilled that Juan Pablo brought Nikki to the recital.  However, the two did exchange a hug as they were leaving.  Awkward!

Next Juan Pablo takes Nikki to the Marlin’s stadium…. Juan Pablo refers to it as “his office.”  They sit down for a little picnic and have some conversation.  Nikki asks where someone fits in with the family and Carla and everything.  She tells him she’s really hopeful he’ll come home with her next week.

SharleenSharleen has made a decision and now she’s going to talk to Juan Pablo.  First she sits down with the girls and tells them that she’s made the decision to leave tonight.  She said she’s aware she could be making a huge mistake.  She knocks on Juan Pablo’s door.   They sit down together on the couch and she says “yesterday was amazing and that’s what makes this excruciatingly difficult…”    She explains that she’s just not feeling as strong as she feels she’s supposed to in three weeks’ time.  She doesn’t want to take the place of someone else, but she just doesn’t see a proposal as something she can do.  She begins crying and he tells her not to cry and he knows it’s not easy.  “I don’t want you to say you’re sorry because you can’t be sorry for something that you feel”  he tells her.  He walks her out and kissing her on the forehead… she tells him good luck, and walks away.   Juan Pablo cries in his interview and says he appreciates her honesty and it takes a brave person to be honest.  I feel for Sharleen… that had to be a really hard decision to make.  But good for her for not settling for something that wasn’t everything she wanted in a guy.

Group date time… Juan Pablo arrives in a sea plane, ski plane, whatever those things are called…. planes that can land on water.  He picks the ladies up and they head to this secluded island looking place.   The ladies find out that not only does the rose mean that that woman is taking JP to their hometown next week, but that she will also be the only one that continues on the rest of the date with him while the other ladies go back to the hotel.

Juan Pablo takes Chelsie aside first and she explains that her mom gave her a stack of letters so that when she got homesick she could read the notes.  She reads some of the letters to Juan Pablo.  I don’t think he and Chelsie have kissed yet.  I’m guessing she’s the one going home this week.  He sat quite a few inches away from her during their time, and JP isn’t usually like that.  He’s a very affectionate guy.

So then he takes Andi aside and they sit down and she begins crying.  She explains her insecurities and that she doesn’t know any certainties.  He just has a way of calming her down…. as he does with all the ladies.

Juan Pablo sits down with Clare and they discuss who he would meet on his hometown visit with her.  She gets choked up about talking about her late father and the video that her father made for her husband to be.  She tells him she would love for him to see the video.  No one has ever seen it.

AndiHe takes the rose and presents it to Andi and says he really wants to meet her family.  Clare is upset it wasn’t her.  Andi is obviously elated that she’ll be taking him back to Atlanta next week.  For their date in the evening, Andi’s wearing a hot red dress and Juan Pablo looks dressed up and amazing as well.  Juan Pablo takes her into this Latin night club and takes her up on stage just the two of them to dance.  They both seem so happy with huge smiles on their faces.

Nikki 2Back at the hotel the three other girls from the group date join Nikki in the hotel.  Clare is in a really pissy mood.  Clare says “I want to hang out with Nikki like I want to be stung by a jellyfish.”  Meow!  Chelsie explains to Nikki what happened on the date and why they’re back and Andi’s not.  There’s this awkward giggling silence going on and Clare is just shooting daggers at Nikki.  Clare said she’s just disappointed but maybe Andi needed the reassurance.  Nikki mumbles “that’s stupid…” and heads back upstairs of their suite.  So Clare says she’s not going to let Nikki get away with being bitchy all the time, and follows after her.  Clare asked her what happened, she’s confused.  Nikki feels Clare was saying shit about Andi and she’s her friend and she just didn’t want to be part of it and didn’t want to be part of the conversation.  After they go back and forth a bit, Nikki says “Let’s be honest here, I don’t like you, we’re never going to be friends.   I have nothing more to say to you.  You can just excuse yourself from my room.”  Clare then starts arguing if it’s actually her room or not.  Clare: “You’re a piece of work, Nikki.”  Nikki: “… and you’re f*!@ing crazy.”

Cocktail party… He spends some time with Renee first.  Meanwhile there’s still tension with Nikki and Clare and it’s making it super awkward.  Nikki doesn’t communicate well with any of the ladies except for Andi.  Her immaturity is really showing.  Kind of makes me like Andi less that she’s BFF with Nikki though.  Nikki and Clare are left together and it is quiet….. crickets…. neither say anything to each other.  So awkward!

ChelsieRose ceremony…. if it’s not Chelsie, I’ll be shocked… rose go to… Nikki, Clare, Renee.  Chelsie will be going home… without Juan Pablo.  Juan Pablo gets teared up.  I love that he can show emotion and he really does seem to care about these women.  Clare whispers to Renee “Such a mistake.  Huge mistake.”  Chelsie tells Juan Pablo it was nice to finally date a good guy.  She tells him “you’re so wonderful.  Good luck.”   I don’t think Chelsie was “the one” for him, but I really do like her.  I would want to be friends with her.  She’s a good, positive girl.  So show the girl some love… here’s her twitter: Chelsie’s Twitter

Next week The Bachelor will be on Monday and Tuesday and SOMETHING goes down in the fantasy suite with Andi.  Oh how can I wait another week to find out what went on in the overnight fantasy suite that has everyone in tears?!!

The Bachelor: Juan Pablo – Episode 6 Recap

Just love this picture of Juan Pablo and Camila

Just love this picture of Juan Pablo and Camila

The Bachelor is now in New Zealand!  Looks so green and beautiful.  It’s definitely on my list of destinations I’d like to travel to before I die.  The women are staying at the Huka Lodge which looks AMAZING.  Clare is still feeling insecure from her conversation with Juan Pablo last week.  He basically said that he regretted swimming in the ocean with her and that it wasn’t fair to the other women.

First date card arrives: “Andi, let’s heat things up…”  Andi is happy to finally have her first one on one date with Juan Pablo.  Meanwhile Clare is just fuming that she doesn’t have one on one time to straighten things out with him.

Cassandra confides in Renee about how she has her guard up because of her son.  They shared a few tears with each other.  They both feel optimistic about Juan Pablo since he has a daughter and they have sons and they feel like he understands then what it’s like to be dating and a parent.

The Squeeze (Not Andi pictured)

The Squeeze (Not Andi pictured)

Juan Pablo picks Andi up and they go in really awesome jet boat.   Juan says he has a very adventurous date planned.  So the boat stops and he says they’re going to go swimming.  The water looks freezing.  They squeeze between these two rocks (it’s actually called “The Squeeze”) and it’s very mysterious and kind of scary.  It’s like a tunnel between caves.  Then they get to this opening and there’s a huge waterfall of hot water.  They totally made out under the waterfall and it was awesome.

At dinner they’re eating right in front of a geyser and then sudden the geyser just goes off and they get completely wet.  Their dinner was totally ruined.

Meanwhile, second date card arrives at the ladies’ place… “Let love roll… Sharleen, Chelsie, Renee, Nikki, Kat, and Cassandra.”  That leaves Clare for the one on one date.  Don’t we usually have a two on one date by now?  I like the drama that comes with those.  hehe  Oh well!  Maybe we won’t have one this season.

Back on the date Juan Pablo and Andi talk a little more and then he presents the rose to her and of course she accepted it.  They both look so happy and just so right for each other.  Team Andi!!

Next day, group date time!  The weather is terribly windy and cold looking.  It’s Cassandra’s 22nd birthday.  Juan Pablo first takes them on a picnic.  Chelsie steals Juan Pabs away and they make these weird calls with their thumbs like a duck call or something.  Then they all go for a walk and come to this contraption set up with giant balls (GIANT BALLS).  So two or three people get inside these balls that have water in them and roll all around.  It’s so strange looking but looks like so much fun!  They’re called OGO’s.  I’m not much of an adventurer, but I would totally do that.  Looks like so much fun!

It’s night time and the ladies and Juan Pablo go to Hobbiton where Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were filmed.  Cassandra’s waiting for alone time with Juan Pablo because she hasn’t spent much time with him so far.  The teaser keeps showing what looks like him sending a girl packing on this date and if I had to guess I would think it would be Cassandra.  He doesn’t seem to be paying much attention to her and he said in the beginning that if he didn’t think they were progressing he would send her home immediately because of her son back at home.  Cassandra also says that she hasn’t told him it’s her birthday.

First he takes Renee aside for one on one time.  She tells him about her and Cassandra having their “mommy moment” bonding over how they have kids and how he understands because he has a daughter too.  He tells her she’s special and she says how happy she is.  Then he takes Nikki aside.   She reminds me of Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky.  Maybe that’s why I can’t get excited about her… aside from her negative side, she reminds me of Ali who I didn’t like.    Then Sharleen sits with him next and he immediately goes for the kissing.  She tries to explain her insecurities about the two of them and where they’re headed and he tells her to just enjoy it and see where it goes and kisses her some more.  Then it cuts to more of Cassandra and being so happy it’s her birthday and celebrating it.  It’s building…. it’s coming… you know she’s getting cut.  Bachelor producers sometimes have a very obvious way of building suspense.

So Juan Pablo finally sits with Cassandra.  She tells him how much she appreciates him and how she appreciates him as a father.  Also how she’s been very cut off from falling in love since she’s been so devoted to her son, Trey.  Juan Pablo’s face looks very serious, but still smiling a little bit.

CassandraThen he sits down with the ladies to give the rose to someone.  He gives the rose to Sharleen and Cassandra is really crushed.  Then he asks Cassandra if he can talk to her for a minute.  They go back outside in the rain under an umbrella.  He explains to her that he told her that once he knew it wasn’t her he was going to let her go.  He said after today he just knows that he needs to let her go and see Trey.  She said she appreciates not making her wait till the rose ceremony.  Juan Pablo says he just thinks they’re in two different parts of their lives right now and he doesn’t feel the connection.  His connection with the other girls is just stronger.  She drives away sad and Juan Pablo explains to the girls that he sent her home.  He’s a little emotional about it.  He has a hard time saying goodbye to these women and it’s only going to get harder.

Next day, Clare’s one on one date.  Clare is going into it expecting an apology from him.  That’s interesting.  The two go out for a picnic.  Juan Pablo tries to say everything is fine now, but what he doesn’t know is that things are not okay with Clare.  He said it was his mistake by not telling her right away that he thought it was inappropriate.  She asks “did we do anything that was inappropriate?”  He said, “4 in the morning, going to the ocean, and kissing in the ocean…. I just didn’t feel good about it later.”  They get it all out and then they kiss.  She said, “was that our first fight?” and he said, “Fight?  I don’t like to fight.”

Night time and they go to dinner at the Hilton hotel.  The two seem very relaxed and have good conversation.  She explains that in the past her reaction would have been to bolt.  He asks “to what?” she says again “to bolt.”  he asks “and what does that mean?”  So funny… him learning the English language.  He then grabs a couple pairs of sweats and tells her they need to change and get comfy.  Pablo says in his interview that he is just so attracted to Clare.  He gets hot just thinking about her.  Wish she had a different personality.  I agree she’s attractive, but she’s so annoying!  Juan Pablo played the song on the radio that they listened to on their first date.  They slow danced and kissed to the music.  Very sweet!  (But it’s CLARE!  ugh)

Next day, Juan Pablo sits down with Chris Harrison and discusses what he wants to get out of the cocktail party and what he’s looking for.  He’s looking for that connection and someone he sees a future with, obviously.  My prediction is that Chelsie is going home.  Not sure if anyone else will be.

Juan Pablo spends time with Nikki, then Renee.  Immediately Juan Pablo knew that Renee would be worried since Cassandra went home.  He looks so happy looking at her as she talks about her son, Ben.  He says he’s hypnotized by her eyes.  Chelsie sits down with Juan Pablo and explains how nervous she is that she might be going home because their one on one date was so long ago and they haven’t had much time to spend together since then.  She tells him that she wants genuine love that lasts forever and that she sees potential and she wants to stick around.  He seems to reassure her which makes me wonder if maybe Kat is going home instead of Chelsie.  So Kat now sits down with him.  She explains she was “journaling”.  Psst Kat, it’s called writing, journaling isn’t a word.  Kat tells him about her alcoholic dad and some bad experiences she had growing up.  Kat’s the only one left that he hasn’t kissed yet so I’m really starting to think it’s her.

KatRose ceremony…. He gives the roses to Nikki, Renee, and Chelsie.  Kat is going home.  Sharleen seems really upset and tells Kat she’s really sad.  Juan Pablo walks Kat out, she tells him good luck.  Sharleen tells in her interview that she feels guilty and somehow that it’s wrong that she’s still there.  She says she can see the other girls suiting him better than her.  Juan Pablo announces that they’re going to Miami next.  Sharleen says she’s giving herself one more week and see if she can see herself truly with him.  If not, she plans to leave.
